It has been announced at CES that Microsoft are soon planning to release an update to allow you to download stuff from the Marketplace and allow you to do other stuff on your 360 at the same time.

The things you will be able to do while downloading demos in the background were not revealed, but we were told that this feature was planned from the very beginning, but needed to be removed before launch because of it wasn't fully tested. Microsoft is working on finalizing this feature and in the near future we should be able to play music, movies, views photos, and maybe even play games while waiting for the latest game demo or movie trailer to download to our Xbox 360's hard drive from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

I'm hoping it doesn't include people downloading at the same time as playing say PGR 3 cause I can see it causing lag problems.

It would be good to play a single player game like Call of Duty 2 while waiting for something to download.

Microsoft has done it again. Making life better for us gamers. I though it was awsome that even when you download, you can still do private chat.

When ever I download demos I usually leave my house and do something because the downloading takes forever but if they allow you to do stuff while downloading that would be awesome.

Yeah, I usually switch over to HBO\Cinemax... usually there's always something to watch while waiting.

That will definitely be a nice feature though!

So the next question is: when? Not that I have downloaded anything (aside from the Halo 1.1 bit), but still good news.

that would be the best bet. I think they will set it up so that you can use your dashboard features like, music, friends list, and with any luck be able to use arcade games. I dont think you will be able to launch a "real game" like PGR while you download a game, could cause some crazy lag issues.

they should have it where live is disabled or the DL stops while you're playing and DLs between games.
