The game is fun, but is there a main quest like the others or do I just run around lost all the time???

i just put Final Fantasy XI on my 360 2h later got on line just for the beta and the game is not as i hoped it would be first it it plays on PlayOnline not Xbox Live and the setup is a nightmare the small keyboard on screen is no help for this, it is NO comparison to world of warcraft hard to play no idea where to go how to level up, the controls are not that good graphics are xbox 1 or ps2 at best i am not that happy with it to say the least just my opinion.

I'm a bit puzzled why people thought this beta was a 360 game and are unhappy about the graphics. It's not suppose to be a 360 game,it's a PC/PS2 3 year old game with servers setup for 360 users to join in.If you can use an USB keyboard it's a lot easier than the onscreen keyboard.
And i've read on other forums that people don't know how to level up,you find enemies outside fight them,if you win you get experince points when you get the required amount you level up,not rocket science is it.

I also am very disappointed by this game. First off, installing this was a multi-hour affair. I was asked the same questions multiple times ("Pick a password. Again. You sure? Okay, now . . . what is your password?"), and not having a keyboard reeeeeeeeealy sucked. After installing for an hour, I had to download updates . . . for another hour!! It took me about 10 minutes to realize that "Purchase Content ID" would not actually cost me money (I sure as hell was not going to give them my CC info). FINALLY, I get into the game, and . . . ??? Nobody will stand still long enough for me to desperately type a message to them. The NPCs promised greater things in about 5-15 levels, and anything bigger than a hornet kills me. So, after staying up all night installing and getting carpal tunnel syndrome, I get to chase hornets around for a few days, hoping to earn my way up to the lofty rank of rat-kicker.
MUST have voice communication. While I appreciate that the game has to reward those that play more with better skills, MUST have the ability to do more than run around and slap bugs for months. MUST have a way to easily meet and form a party. Spent hours roaming the city (which was nice) and could find no helpful info at all. Mabye XboxLive made me lazy, but get me to the fun. Mining, while an important part of of a culture's exxonomic activity, is boring and thus not a fun game

It's not a bad game at the moment for a freebie, but when the full game is relesed, what you see in the beta is basically what you get in the full version expect for stuff you can only do in the full version.
I can't see me buying a game that is three years old that has Xbox graphics and be charged the same price as say Ghost Recon 3.
They could have least put in an single player mode that had an 360 look to it,but then again that wounldn't change my mind and want to buy it.
The funny thing is that OXM360 ranted about not to miss the issue with the beta of FF XI ,but when they reviewed the full version they only gave it a score of 7/10
