Substantially more than I wish to admit!
Though I am a dealer, so I didn't pay retail for much of it; that helped a little.

I bet it helped a lot. I know when I was getting a much nicer discount, many of the these fine HT products were marked up as much as 30-45% retail!!!:heeeellll

Unfortunately that is not really an option with a plaster ceiling. Besides, it goes up to the ceiling, and for the most part, seems to fade away up there.
And they are substantially more than $200 (for a decent one anyway). I won't throw out prices, but the one I have now was in the four figures. You could get them cheaper for a non-electric model, but when you're spending that much money, who the hecks wants to get up from the couch to pull down their screen? :D

Thank you for the kind words. :)
You make a good point in regards to the 360’s location. It sits atop one of my Denon Amps, and it's a monster! During movies and cranked up to reference levels, that baby puts off some heat, so there is some reason for concern, considering the 360 is covering some of the Denon's vents. So I guess you can call this temporary. It would be wise of me to relocate the 360 at some point. ;)
How do you like those Athenas? I sell alot of them to the "value-conscious" so to speak and they absolutely love them. I must say, I too am quite impressed by the sound they produce. Considering they are made by the same manufacturer who makes Energy and Mirage speakers, this really should not have surprised me.

Thanks for your response and considering my concern. I absolutely love my Athena speakers! From what I know I guess Athena is a Canadian company. My father paid 3 times $$$ from what I spent for his Polk Audio speakers and I really can’t tell the difference between mine and his. Also, a good buddy of mine has a nice home theater room in his basement with sound proof walls, 65” HD, 7.1 surround, the works (similar to your setup) and he is simply blown away by the sound of my Athena’s and Yamaha amp/receiver and I have a very large open room. My living room, Kitchen, dining, bar is all open without walls (well there is a separater wall but does not go all the way up to the cieling), vaulted ceilings, all tile (no carpet sound absorption) and it still sounds great in there. If I set my amp to "NEO: 6 Cinema" it's perfect for gaming.

Yes, they are made from a company call API based in Canada. They make Energy and Mirage speakers as well (Both very well respected speakers in the audiophile world).
I too actually am I big fan of Polk’s home theater speakers. They are very reputable company that really stands by their products. Some of their RTi and LSi series speakers rival those 3-4x more expensive. So your father should be happy with his.
But considering the cost, those Athena’s redefine the term “best bang-for-your-buck”.

Italia - Quick question, You seem to know your sh*t so I wanted to ask you about people putting sand in their speakers to achieve a true acoustic sound. Is this really worth it? Affective?

LOL, boy we're all over the place on this thread eh?
This is an easy one, so I'll respond here.
Some call that an old-wives tale. Some swear by it. I can tell you this, it does nothing from an acoustical stand point.
Some people put sand in their speaker enclosures and/or speaker stands to dampen vibrations and along with it some amount of distortion. For this effect, I say sand can be beneficial. Particularly in speaker stands. Any kind of mass loading in stands is very much welcomed. That will help prevent unwanted resonances.
But as for acoustical refinement........not so much. That is more controlled by your listening environment, not from within the speaker enclosure.

Thanks man. I love the race chair. It took almost a whole day to build though for me and my bud. I dont have good tools. Everything is fully adjustable though. The back of the seat moves and so does the bottom. The wheel holder twists up and down and foreward and back. And the legs move foreward and back and the pedal holder adjusts angles so yes I put some thought into it. RACING RULES lol!

i have to say italia wins hands down, buti think psuedohippy is leading the race for 2nd
Two days doesn't really seem like a very long time to get your pictures in, ahh well.
I just saw this thread just now, but I'm pretty proud of my setup. I have a dedicated "movie room" with a Optoma H77 projector (native 720p, up to 1080i), 100" screen and a 1000-watt, 7.1 surround sound system. All my equipment is placed behind my couch in the closet, within easy reach. I also placed my 230-watt subwoofer in there behind my couch. It makes for a great rumbling effect. :D
I even had a remote control system installed in my ceiling fan. I can dim the lights and control the fan. The remote itself has the temperature on it, and I can set the fan to come on automatically when the temp gets too high.
