play station vs xbox

i would like everyone to say if any of the xbox systms is better or if one of the play station systems is better
in my opinion the xbox systems (both of them) are the best

Of course, having more than a year to start the fight (much like the 360 is doing now, except for mass-production) helped PS2 as well. The Xbox was the better machine, but the slow start and lack of 3rd party support (in the beginning) ultimately buckled the novelty of it.

The Xbox had the best FPS titles and some really good racing games as well. A few good RPG type games and other noteworthy titles, but despite all that, PS2 had about a 6 to 1 game ratio over Xbox. XBLive kept the Xbox popular, as well as LAN parties.

Of course I prefer the Xbox consoles for a number of reasons, I understand why it was 2nd best (by a long shot).

You are totally right, the only reason I even looked at buyng a 1st gen XBOX was because I hated the ps2 controllers because I have big hands and there controller was to small, I also hated the button layout which I liked on the original xbox. And the gamecube I never even looked at because to tell you the truth nintendo gamecubes are for little kids like 6-10 years old. So I bought the XBOX and I really liked some of the games for it like Halo 2, etc, etc. I really loved PS2 games though but I couldn't stand the controllers. Controllers can kill a system because now I wont buy the PS3 because of the boomerang controllers, I have a 360 and the controllers are perfect for me. It all comes down to personal prefference!

Actually the controller that people have seen is the actual controller. I read it on either Gamefaqs or the-magicbox.com some time ago.

Update: Sony has announced that they are changing the boomerang, I mean controller. It's allegedly going to be similar to the revolution in terms of technology. It's pretty safe to say that Sony will reveal the new style controller at E3.

I have yet to receive my 360 but i bought an xbox with a few games from a friend who has upgraded and i have to say i prefer the overall xbox experience compared to ps2, Im not sure if its the games, the graphics or the controller but it just feels better... hope that makes sense. The hard drive is really handy as well, im sick of spending 20 quid on memory cards for the ps2. Since buying the xbox from him 2 weeks ago ive bough pro evo 4, lma manager 2005, sniper elite and brothers in arms 1 and 2... not top of the charts games but moneys tight at the moment, cant wait for my 360 to get here though... looks amazing.

My only problem is the lack of actual updates for the 360 for the features we all want. playlists from computer or usb drive, ripping mixed media disks and usb drives, playing videos from xp or usb drives, downloading in background, non crappy headsets that dont break (look here (http://forums.planetxbox360.com/xbox-360-hardware/6797-fixing-headsets.html#post73063) here for help fixing them) and i think there are many more i forgot....

The PS2 may have a game ratio of 6 - 1 but the quality of a vast majority of those is dubious to say the least. PS2 promised so much before its launch and didnt deliver on those promises until well after the XBOX was launched, and even when Sony did deliver it was Poo. Sonys online experience is a joke compared to XBOXlive. The xbox came with a hard drive you could store music on, I dont think you could even buy a hard drive for the PS2 until 18 months after its launch.

Granted you pay extra for a HD with the X360 but its still cheaper than what a PS3 will cost you.

The graphics on the XBOX are superior.

And Sony Stinks!

I myself find the psp rather useless.... have to buy your own memory (expensive memory for any more than 2 gb by the way) and the screen is too dark to use in daylight. Also guzzles batteries down, and internet is slow and akward. The only thing i like about it is the video part. And rss playlists.

All hardware aside I enjoy the games on the xbox more than the games on the ps2. Maybe the only ps2 exclusive I sorta liked was Metal gear and that was only because I played it on ps1 but then again you can get it on xbox 1, which I never did

ps2 won mainly cuz it had more games, more variety , came out first and appealed to japanese gamers. i prefer xbox systems because of xbox live.

a few points to argue here.

1. PSP useless? there is nothing that comes even close to the PSP in handheld form. The web browser is poor but the PSP was designed first and foremost as a gaming machine/portable video player.

2.have to buy your own memory (expensive memory for any more than 2 gb by the way).. Do you own an xbox360? If you buy a core system you have to pay for a HD or memory card if you buy a premium package you pay extra for the HD.

3. I get 4 1/2 hours out of my battery. My wife gets 4 hours gameplay out of her gameboy advance.
