Companies manufacturing and selling third party Xbox 360 pheriperals and accessories will have to pay Microsoft royalties to produce them. Obviously this is a way for MS to create more revenue through the sales on non official products.

Didn't they do this on the original Xbox too? Or something similar, anyway..

that'll at least bring up the quality of 3rd party products.

i hate those crappy things that come out for the ps2 that they didn't approve of and it's below quality.

Yeah, in my opinoin this is actually a good thing. Let the 3rd party developers pay for licensing, that way, they are more weary about making crappy products for the masses since they'll need to sell more to make a profit. And we'll talk if something sucks.

That's why I never buy thrid-party accessories.

I used to have a third-party controller on my Gamecube. It broke after two weeks, and all I did was turn a corner on Mario Kart.

I must admit I always but the official products, I generally find the quality is a little bit better than the third party stuff.

I'll most likely only need a controller and a headset, so this doesn't exactly effect me. This is just another way for Microsoft to pull in money, and actually make profit this time around. Props to them.

The only time i have a 3rd party controller is when i bought my xbox from a local store and they chucked in a free pad, but it broke in less than 2 weeks :( so i just dont trust them.

I think it's a great move because now all the 3rd Party Peripherals will be of a higher quality. One time I bought a 3rd party DVD Remote for my Xbox and it didn't even work. This may cause the price of the Peripherals to be higher but I'm willing to pay a little extra money for Quality.
