Microsoft are at it again, this time they have start another viral marketing campaign called the "Origami Project", and while it can not be confirmed at this stage, it could be do to with a new portable gaming/media device.

The Origami Project website was recently opened and upon visiting you are played a short presentation that asks questions such as "do you know me?" and "do you know what I can do?" The final screens says that we will learn more information on 2 March 2006.

Engadget have also got their hands on some pictures to do with this new project and while the authenticity of the pics can not be guaranteed, they appear to be of a portal gaming or media device, much like the one that Microsoft have been rumored to have been working on.

Well i hope it does turn out to be the *xbox 360 portable, cos that would be a big competition against the PSP2

I think it would be some device that just extends the features of your 360. Who knows.

It might just be the HD-DVD thing that plugs in the 360 but I kinda hope it is a portable gaming system.

I see. thats tight. i think its kinda ugly though, but its awsome. it showed a gut playing halo 1 but not halo 2. i hope it can support xbox live. love all those awsome features it has. GPS, Picto chat and taking pictures and listening to music.

They need to change the way it looks to somthing cooler. and mabye make it a little smaller just a little. Take away the poop green color too for the comercial.

Well based on what I saw, that should quite all the "portable gaming system" talk. It's basically a super portable pc. It's smaller that a notebook and a tablet pc. Yes it does play games but pc games.

If that what it is, then what a dissapointment

Yea, definitly not anything in the range of a portable gaming system. more like a new type of small laptop. Probably going to be like $1200-$1500, not anything that a bunch of little kids playing xbox are going to buy.

Its not meant for gaming its like a pda but with more functionality. Like a mobile computer even more mobile than a laptop.

That's strange that's the same day Sonys Devstation is. Could it be something to samck sony with. If they are amking a handheld that would put somkemore pressure on sony, and it news may be revealed on their "X05" that they call Devstation

iv been hearing loads about da new PSP and xbox portable (http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/24/microsofts-origami-project/) (mostly rumours) but i woldn't be suprised if microsoft was going to release a portabal gamin staion (most have:aetsch: ) as well as a tablet computer, sounds pretty unique.

As much as I love the idea of an xbox protable. I think its gonna be like a tablet pc thats has everyday functions like internet, gaming, messenger, media center, personal planner maybe even a cell phone why not. Its like an all in one device with even gps. Its gonna be like a grand thou atleast with a screen of that size noway near a psp price range.

It's going to be some kind of multimedia PC. And I'm not getting it since I have no need for it.

It’s probably going to be a miniature tablet PC/notebook. It could simply use flash memory for everything, making it small, chock resistant, and expensive. As for games, probably just things designed for it or basic/old games.
Here, I was right, mostly. SEE! (http://gear.ign.com/articles/691/691935p1.html)

I posted that article like almost a week ago and nobody even seemed to care. Im glad you could get people to talk about it a little. Im hoping it will be like $800 or something but I have a feeling it is just a dream. It sounds perfect for me and could help me in my job too. It said new info today so keep an eye out here everyone and post a link if you can find it.
