Free Xbox Live Gold Weekend

Earlier last year Microsoft made a promise to Xbox Live Silver users. A promise that they seem to have kept. Microsoft said that during some weekends they'll offer full Xbox Live Gold memberships for Silver users. On the Xbox.com calendar page it states that on the weekend, starting April 1, they'll be offering silver users all the benefits of the Gold membership for 72 hours. The weekend is sponsored by Verizon, which probably must have paid quite a hefty amount to Microsoft. So if you're still a Silver Member and would like to play some of your games online (without the use of Xlink Kai or something similar) then mark your calendar for April 1.

I read on another forum that there's a rumor going around that it got cancelled. Then again I didn't really pay much attention to it because I have xbox live for close to 3 years. So, I really don't know :dontknow:.

I would think for M$ to offer silver users a free weekend with the chance of them becoming gold members,but instead turning round and saying April fool wouldn't be a wise move for the company.

I need to get a new modem to play on Live :( I've contacted my ISP about it, no reply yet. They better send me a replacement.

Will we who have xbox live gold see the advertising that the people getting free weekend who have silver see or will they just get the advertising from verizon?
