What display format will emulated xbox games be displayed in on the xbox360? For example Halo2 on the xbox is either 4:3 proportional or 16:9 amorphically squeezed into 4:3. For the squeezed mode you must stretch the display to get a proportional 16:9 display.

Will the xbox360 scale to 720p or 1080i in real 16:9 mode?

The last comment that I heard was that all 360 games will support both 720p and 1080i at 16:9. As for playing Xbox games on the 360, I would imagine that they would default to 480p as for ratio it would depend on console settings and TV type.

without a HD you won't be playing any xbox emulated games on your 360. so I guess it's the 399 premium package or bust...

Actually blackmamba means HD -> hard drive. The emulation sw for xbox games will be stored on the premium xbox360's hard drive. I'll be getting the premium 360.

I have a 42" RPTV HDTV that is ready to rock with the 360...

thanks for that clarification there xtrek. as for me I am a bit shocked at the announcement of no hard drive in the base model...you can milk anything with nipples.

I don't have a HDTV, but the TV can put it into 16x9 mode, which squeezes the picture and helps with clarity.
