After patiently waiting four months after the US release I was happy to be at the local games retailer last night for the midnight launch party of the Xbox 360 here in New Zealand. I got my full system console (hard-drve included) along with Project Gotham Racing 3 and raced home to play it.
After the initial Xbox Live connection setup and account migration, I started to play PGR3 - 30 minutes later it froze. I decided to call it a night and try again in the morning.
The morning came around and brought with it yet more freezes, which seem to occur randomly after 20 to 30 minutes playing. Upon ringing the Xbox support number here in New Zealand, I was directed to a person in the USA who proceeded to enter my details into the database.
I was then told I had two options, either try different games, or get it repaired. I said I knew that these exact same problems had plagued the launch overseas and suspected the same was occuring to me. I was then told I faced a 10 day wait time while they fixed my console. I hung up.
Is this how Microsoft treats its most loyal fans and customers? Is four months of actually having the console released everywhere else not enough time for them to get it right?
And yes, I have tried everything here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907586/en-us
Check out the picture here (http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/5796/dsc014095lo.jpg) to see me having fun in Project Gotham Racing 3. In case you can't tell, there is no road there - the graphics got all corrupted!
Thanks Microsoft - the wait was really worth it!!!
