View Full Version : 360s Freezing in New Zealand

After patiently waiting four months after the US release I was happy to be at the local games retailer last night for the midnight launch party of the Xbox 360 here in New Zealand. I got my full system console (hard-drve included) along with Project Gotham Racing 3 and raced home to play it.

After the initial Xbox Live connection setup and account migration, I started to play PGR3 - 30 minutes later it froze. I decided to call it a night and try again in the morning.

The morning came around and brought with it yet more freezes, which seem to occur randomly after 20 to 30 minutes playing. Upon ringing the Xbox support number here in New Zealand, I was directed to a person in the USA who proceeded to enter my details into the database.

I was then told I had two options, either try different games, or get it repaired. I said I knew that these exact same problems had plagued the launch overseas and suspected the same was occuring to me. I was then told I faced a 10 day wait time while they fixed my console. I hung up.

Is this how Microsoft treats its most loyal fans and customers? Is four months of actually having the console released everywhere else not enough time for them to get it right?

And yes, I have tried everything here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907586/en-us

Check out the picture here (http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/5796/dsc014095lo.jpg) to see me having fun in Project Gotham Racing 3. In case you can't tell, there is no road there - the graphics got all corrupted!

Thanks Microsoft - the wait was really worth it!!!

as far as the 360s go though its not like the models that are being shipped now are much different than those from the reast of the worlds launch, it will be a while till the bugs get worked out at the factories rather than 1. sending it in, or 2. releasing a patch. there is gonna be duds no matter what they do and someone is going to end up with them, just send it in and get it fixed

Sorry to hear you are part of the unlucky ones...

Although I don't think Microsoft had the time to actually fix the problem for all consoles produced... We shouldn't forget that they are still not getting out enough 360s for everyone, so a lot of 360s being shipped probably still have that freezing problem...

I guess we can at least be happy to have a customer support that seems efficient... Hang in there Kiwi ... Send them the 360 but ask for a compensation ...

my console is fine, it's been on all today, and played oblivion for about 6 hours with no problems what so ever.

too bad you are one of the very few unlucky ones

I would call Microsoft again I think you got a bad customer service person as most people who dealt with MS before had good experience so I would call them up again either way your console needs to be fixed and will most likely have to ship it back to the States.

It might be a dud. Try moving the 360 to another area and try plugging it into a deticated outlet it might not be getting enough power. Mine only freezes when in the 360 guide never in a game. It happens rarely too maybe like 1once every 2 weeks of play and a simple restart fixes it.

Don't get angry just send it in and get a new one. It's really not that hard.

WHen I boot up oblivion sometimes the video's audio skips every ~3 seconds... i"m not sure if it's the disc or the console... but im not too stressed the game plays fine... apart from that one time when i went into third person and i couldn't see my body... :)

the oblivion skipping on intro, is because you don't have your console set to pal-60.
