Here is what I know which isnt much. I know that you can store mp3's onto the HDD. But what you are asking is if you can take them straight from the mp3 onto the hdd. I know that my iriver player does not allow taking mp3's from it back onto my cpu. It only allows transfers from the cpu to the player and not vice versa. My guess is it will depend on the player and what it allows. Beyond that Im not sure if the 360 has any restrictions that way. I havent figured it out but I will try when I get home. I have a newer sansa player now and I dont know if it will allow that on the cpu even but I will try.

You can't rip music from your mp3 to the hard drive. You can only stream it.

might of been a compatability error with the type of CD-R you were using. Yes the 360 can rip from burned CDs but they have to be CDA not MP3. So if you have MP3s you want on there you have to burn them to CD (as a CD) then re rip them back into WMAs on the 360. You will lose a lot of quality and i dont recomend it if you have an easy way to stream.

if your asking if you can browse the internet from the 360 then no not as of yet. They dont plan on eliminating the computer from your house since thats what a lot of people mostly do on their computer. Instead they want the 360 to act as an extender so you are forced to buy both. Remember M$ makes their money off of PC software mostly, not the 360.
The 360 would be capable of doing so, maybe streaming internet only if you have a PC with windows xp, but i think they are concentrating on other things right now. Plus when you add the internet into the mix then you have to account for virus's and such, adding more problems then good i assume.
