It's a fantastic game. There's not a whole lot to it, in terms of depth of experience, but what it does, it does brilliantly. There's an attention to detail that's totally unnecessary. For example, the stadiums, that all have actively rendered fans and ref, or the gym stage that has folks walking by behind the glass. Additionally, the sound design and auditory reactions of the fans are some of the best I've heard in a sports game.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a detailed little sports game that will give you an experience you can't get anywhere else, get this game. Be warned though, it will make you scream and shout in those moments when the ball slips just over the net, or taps the edge of the table to go 90 degrees off into the distance costing you that 60 volley rally online.

Great game. It is fun and addicting as well. Fun online play too. At $40 it is a steal.

Its mediocre at best, for me. The online is fun, but gets boring. The tournament mode has no depth (offline tournament), and gets repetitive.

Thank god for Gamefly, I wouldve wasted $40 on this.

ok i havent played a demo...or anything like that but the basic idea of the game boggles my mind...its TABLE TENNIS.....would you want to be on your HS table tennis team....NO...or at least i hope not....in my opinion Rockstar fell of from the GTA series horrible....they should all go drown themselves in a toilet for thinking this was going to be a good idea...but again this is my opinion and i havent played it...its just the simple fact of you wouldnt join your HS table tennis team...what fun is whacking a ball back and forth across a table...

And the Rockstar game is indeed lots of fun. I like how they build up the tension in a long rally by introducing music and slow motion and different camera angles, it really puts you right in the heat of the moment. I also like how sometimes the ball will kick off the edge of the table, frustrating if you're on the receiving end and your opponent happens to fluke it or get a lucky 'rub of the green'. Very good gameplay.

The game seems to have captured the heart and soul of human emotion, it's about throwing your life on the line towards winning at all costs, it's about dedication and being the last man standing. The glory of sport! Rockstar seem to have encapsulated the true competitive nature of a sporting contest - the human condition - something they've never been able to do in a GTA game. In GTA, your character wanders about in fantasyland killing and stealing and you're almost disconnected from your character as it's all just a laugh. In this title, Rockstar have been able to achieve something quite different and they should be proud of that.

as the guy said, you can imagine there's no fun in kicking a ball around a field, or throwing it in a hoop or even driving a car around the same track for 100 laps.
I kinda feel its false logic.

I'm seriously thinking about picking this up even if I aint no ping-pong fan :)

I sent it back to GameFly after about a week of playing. Online was fun, but wasnt enough to warrant a purchase with no create a player, and zero depth to the offline stuff.

Absolutely! :bootyshak When you're engrossed in a long rally, it's EXACTLY how you feel. I'm talking like a rally of 100 hits.. it's still a winner of a game for me! :)

To basically play ping pong for fun. Since the single player has zero depth, its an ideal online game.

It's a solid purchase at 40 bucks. As mentioned it lacks in depth, but the overall gameplay is awesome. It hasn't become boring yet and I've played around 20 hours.
