Well Im probably going to get a 360 for my birthday in June and I was wondering what should I play it on. I have my TV which is a 19 inch Philips regular old TV or I have my computer monitor which is a 21 inch Dell Ultrasharp flat panel widescreen. I was wondering what one you guys would play on?
Is the widescreen better then the regular TV and would it look semi-HD? And one final question what would I need and how much would it cost?
Thanks

Quite a few questions there lol. Erm what is the native resolution of that monitor, I have a suspicion it is 1680x1050. This is way above 720p and would make the 360 not look as good as it could. This could be altered by purchasing the HD VGA cable, you can either get the official one or the Joytech cable, that I have. Erm I am not sure about pricing in the US, but I would suspect no more than $30.
If you bought this, stick the res (via the 360 dashboard) to 1280x1024, as this is the highest pixel count; 1.3MP. This would look ALOT better than standard TV, and is, in fact HD...don't let the television manufacturers fool you, the only thing that is required for HD is a native resolution over 1280x720. As the VGA cable allows this, you would experience a much improved picture. It is quite a simple decision; 480i verses >720p....your choice!
Yes, you do not get true 1:1 pixel mapping, but is still a vast improvement over SDTV.

Hey thanks. In the link to team xbox they use my exact monitor to test out the cable so thats good to know. Do I need some sort of splitter if I want to be able to switch between my computer and 360?

I think you would because the VGA cables uses the computer moniter cable as well so you wouldn't be able to have it hooked up to both without a splitter.

Well I was just cleaning my room a little bit and I found another cable that can connect my comp to the monitor. I think the abreviation is D-Sub or DVI-D. So my plan is when I get the 360 unplug my monitor from the VGA input and plug in the 360 there, then plug the D-Sub or DVI-D cable into the back of my computer and then the monitor.
If that works I can just switch what mode the monitor is on, and did I mention I have Picture in Picture :) . I can not wait!!!

Sounds cool, Ive been thinking about getting some kind of monitor to play my 360 on because I cant really afford an HDTV. Let us know how well it looks and if you would recommend spending the cash.
