Correct me if I'm wrong but unlike the PS3 wont the XBOX 360 eliminate the need for a pc? Isnt it faster than the fastest pc in the market now?

Yup it is, but then you still have your word processors, gfx programs and all the applications for PC's.
Also, I hate playing FPS games with a controller (ie CS, Quake etc).
And finally, once the Xbox360 is a few years old, PC's will once again be more powerful.
But you are right in a sense, the Xbox 360 is closer to eliminating the PC than the Xbox is.
The graphics are more advanced than any pc on the market for gaming, and will befor a while

Just like Matt said : You still need your PC for other "non-gaming" stuff...
But nonetheless, in previous gens, the PC always had a head start performance-wise.... This time, it's true that the 360 hardware is up to par with top-line pcs....And with the HD (for those fortunate enough to have the appropriate TV), things are REALLY getting interesting cause back in the day, we were limited with low-res, whereas the PC always offered better resolution (therefore crisper visuals!!)....

I will always keep my PC up to spec for the latest games. We all know the xbox360 will be far better than any PC but you can't beat a PC for a FPS. I used to play Quake 3 WFA in the european league many moons ago and I loved it. I still like to play FPS on my xbox (Halo for an example) but I'll never be as good on a console. (having said that I haved played on the 360 yet:) )

yeah the pc's wont take long and they'll be back up on top. Maybe 2 cycles of graphics cards or less. But in the end your way cheaper better off with a console. I love my pc gaming but damn if its not just ridiculously expensive to stay on the cutting edge. Least with the Xbox360 its just expensive one time lol

yea i can't stand playing fps with controller, it's just not the same. i wouldn't have gotten bored of halo 2 if 1.) they had it for pc and i could run it 2.) there wasn't as many modders.

In what way do you wish to connect it up? If it is via LAN so you can stream media (using either media centre or windows media connect) all you need is the ethernet cable that came with the 360 premium pack.
To do this firstly create a local area connection in ur connections part of your PC, choose your LAN port of your PC/Laptop, then make it so the internet can be shared, then just plug in the 360 and switch her on and it should connect. If you have a firewall or internet security system i.e. Zonealarm, just put the network connection into the trusted program or turn down the windows firewall to a suitable setting.
If you wish to stream media to your 360, you must either have a Media Centre PC or an XP computer with service pack 2 and Windows media connect installed and running. To download WMC, just go to www.xbox.com/pcsetup then download the appropriate version for your computer and install it. Now some PC's require the ".NET framework" to be installed, this can easily be found by googling it.
Once installed firstly allow it through windows firewall by adding a program and selecting it from the list. Once done open up media connect and "allow" your 360 to recieve data/media.
This should be you set up to stream music and pictures to your console. Hope that is of some help. :)
