My 360 messed up tonight and Im so pissed. My brother told me to go buy another one and stick mine back in the box and return it saying it wouldnt work and get the money back. Is there anyway they can track this stuff? or do you think they even bother? Im not saying Im going to do it Just want a little input on the situation.

Hmm, I don't know. The serial number could be a problem, so I wouldn't recommend it.

to tell you the truth i have done this with my PSP but i used the warrenty.
(i had 2 psp's, 1 broke and had no warrenty so i swaped the stickers and returned it) anyway , you could carefully swap the serial #s off the sticker in the back thatway itl have that serial when you return it :)
i had a ps2 at my mums house and one at dads and i did the same thing u did "paymon" the laser broke in it so lol no regrets getting rid of that hunk of poop

We all assume certain risks and responsibilities when we buy something and accept the terms and policies of a vendor. If you don't like their return/warranty policy...you should've found someplace different to buy your system. I bought mine at GameStop, and their policies suck...but if my system breaks down I will deal with it under the terms I accepted when I payed for it.

I don't know. Swapping stickers, that sounds a little outta line. Hey, I guess it's worth a shot. But if they call the 5-0, your DOOMED!

I wouldn't do it it constitutes fraud and you can pay a high price if caught from large fine and having a police record is it worth that?

Don't do it. It's just wrong...and you know it otherwise you wouldn't ask first. The others are right...the serial # is on the reciept. Also, if you've registered for live, you may be associated with that box. Sure you could try swapping the stickers, but two things could happen....one, if I know microsoft, when you peel the sticker it will come apart or leave behind markings to discourage removal...then you'll be stuck with it and MS may not help if the SN sticker has been removed/tampered with. Two, you'll get caught and hit with an ugly fine. It's not worth it. Besides that, theft (including theft by deception) over 500$ where I live is a felony- Some states it is as low as 200$. Assets Protection/Loss prevention people look for this kind of stuff. Just my .02.

The whole thing about this question is Im on vacation and will be for about 2 more weeks and Ive heard it can take a few weeks now for MS to get the console back tp you so that means it could be a month before i get it back. as most people on here I cant live without my daily dose of 360. I know its wrong to do this I just wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Most likely Im going to just buy a new system then send this one off to Ms, when I get it back put it on eBay with a few games and I might make my money back and then some, not sure.
How much you guys think I could get for a Core system, HDD, wired controller and 2 games, say Oblivion and PDZ. I dont ever play either of them anymore.

Hey if you swap stickers there still going to know cause the number is implanted into your system and theres a sticker inside. Send it back to MS if they dont fix it on warrenty then they will most likely charge you maybe $50-$100 for a newer one which will be the lastest one or you couldpay for repair.

I ended up getting me a premium last night at walmart. Im going to send my broken 360 back to MS for repairs then sell it on eBay. I have a lot of accessories so it might go fast, hopefully. I wonder if the extended warranties are transferable in any way? if not Ill just get the warranty on my new one, its well worth it. One thing ive noticed about my new one is its a lot quieter and the CPU doesnt seem to get as hot. It was made in 4/06, my last 2 have been launch systems so I hope all the bugs are worked out of this one.
