I noticed last week while playing Halo and Halo 2 split screen campaign that my CRT is showing burn in! I can tell it's from one of the Halo's but can't tell which one. So I switched games for a while this week..GRAW and COD2 and it did fine with hours of play. I also watched tv and didn't see it anymore. Last night while playing Halo 2 for about an hour, It started coming back again, but this time it was from a different scene in the game. I shut the tv off and now I get the funny little light dot in the middle of the screen when I sut it off. I feel my tv's going south on me.
I posted for suggestions a few weeks ago on a new HDTV and was leaning toward a 30" widescreen Samsung CRT HDTV, but with this burn in occuring on my 2yr old tv, I'd like to know....what tv is least likely to experience burn in! CRT, DLP, Projection, or LCD. I think the time has come to purchase but the decision has just become more complicated. I can't STAND burn in! :banghead: Thanks!

WTH is burn in anyway? It doesn't make sense! I think LCD is the best for lack of burn in.

Funny you mention that. Although I did not have burn in with my old TV (that thing was about 6 years old), I just bought a 30" widescreen Samsung CRT HDTV. And I am absolutely loving it. Its got a pair of each type of connection, even HDMI. Especially now because circuit city has them on sale, $749, and they have 18 months no interest. So I had to pick it up. The only thing I didnt like is that sales guy tried selling me 150 dollar HDMI cables when I got philips brand HDMI cables for 30 bucks each. And according to consumer reports, they are just as good as Monster, and better then belkins brand.
Wow, I went way off track. I dont even remember what the original topic was... Live a little, get the TV.
(sorry about the "no help" technique I used.) :dontknow:

Yeah..that sounds like the tv I was looking at. I may get a LCD now, though. This really ticks me off. Although, I have to consider my tv is a panasonic and this isn't the only problem I've had with it....about 6 mos after purchase, I had to have the tuner replaced under warranty. So I may just have a crappy tv. I have a lot to think about, I guess.

This is NOT burn in. CRT's basically can't have burn in. What you are witnessing (and almost everyone else is) is a glitch in the emulator, nothing to do with your display. It would only be burn in, if the picture/artifact remained there all the time. Also burn in takes a long time to happen, and only for static images on screen, so as Halo isn't a slow game, that kinda proves it wasn't burn in either.
So don't worry, almost everyone experiences this, I have myself on my old CRT and my current LCD HDTV. It is annoying, but at least be aware that it is doing no damage to either your display, or 360....

Whew!!! I was panicing! I guess that's why other games don't do it and why it goes away. Your LCD does this too? Man alive! It is very annoying, but I can live with it as long as it does no damage. Is it Halo 2 only, or Halo as well? Any other games that do this? Thanks for the input!

Also, I know this isnt burn in that you are experiencing but just to make the point I have been told that LCD's also cant experience burn in. I know projection tv's and plasma tv's do incur burn in. My projection has a slight case of burn in from the black bars on the side of non HD broadcasting. It sucks worse then what you are talking about since it never goes away.
