Alright, so since my last account's subscription ended the month before last month I decided to get a new account and so I did, a week ago. I called up Xbox Live tech support and they just think I don't know how to work an Xbox. They kept saying, "So when you do troubleshoot does it fail?" Me, "No, everything checks out." Them, "I'm guessing it's failing at the last one" "..." I think I can recognize four green dots. Anyways, they said call back in two days to see if it fixed it self. When I go to sign-in Live it doesn't connect and says, "Xbox Live is not responding. Please try again later." So I press 'Ok', sign back in again and says, "Could not connect to Xbox Live. Would you like to troubleshoot your connection?" I check 'Yes' - it goes through the troubleshoot and nothing fails yet it won't let me sign into Xbox Live. As I said before I had another account just a month ago and it never did this. I already tried unplugging the modem and cables to the Xbox for three minutes but didn't do anything. My cable company is Comcast and am connected... don't know which way I'm connected by (direct connect or router connect - fairly certain it's the router one). Any help please. Did this happen to you? Common problem?

I work for Comcast (actually right at this moment i am) for the Internet technical support. If your internet connection is working but xbox live isnt working, then xboxs tech support would have to help you. when you do a power cycle of your modem and router (assuming you have a router), unplug the modem and router at the same time. wait about 15 sec before plugging JUST the modem back in. wait until all the lights on the modem finish sync and then plug the router back in. wait a few seconds, then try again with the xbox live. if that doesnt work, call microsoft and say you talked with us and its on microsofts side (the problem). hope that helped.

No, didn't change the situation - thanks for replying, though.

Edit:
Oh, and I found out it's the router one.

that happened to me 2 days ago. I could get on the internet ( on my computer) just fine but couldn't join xbox live. First time I did troubleshooting it said that it couldn't find my IP address, i think. Did it again and everything was fine, just couldn't connect for some reason. On the third time I tried to connect it let me get on and I have no idea what the problem was. Just keep trying.

Something else you may want to try is to make sure that the firmware for your router is updated. This gave me connectivity problems awhile back to.

Sounds to me like one or more the xbox live tcp and udp ports are being blocked at your router. Call your ISP's tech support and have them walk you through verifying that these ports are open. If they're not, then have them help you open them.

Xbox Game Server Port (TCP): 22042
Voice Chat Port (TCP and UDP): 22043-22050
Peer Ping Port (UDP): 13139
Peer Query Port (UDP): 6500
