I'm just wondering. My 360 just croaked last night...after only about a month of minimal gameplay. It is, however, a launch system. Anyway what I'm wondering is if anyone who has had to send theirs in, ever got any explanation as to what the issue was. I mean...our $400 piece of next gen hardware breaks, we send it in, get a new or repaired unit sent back to us; do they at least inform us of what went wrong???
I really hope I get a new one...granted the one I have now is immaculate. How can you tell....will it have a new serial #

IF they can fix yours they will send you it (yours) back. I sent mine in and they sent me a new one. They did not state what was wrong with mine. I have had friends that got replacement units as thier new ones and others had thier original returned to them.

If you had gotten your through EB games like i did, they offered an in store warranty. with that, you just bring it back and they give you a brand new one on the spot, no questions asked! the sales person even told me that the warranty covered aboslutely anything, including me throwing it at a wall, stomping it, puring coke on it purposly, etc. crazy but true. now thats good service! (warranty costs $50 additional dollars, but with the 360s track record, it seems like not having to send it away for however long it takes is a good thing) oh yeah, my cd drive gets stuck sometimes and the occasional game freezes (not vary often though), so ill be using my warranty.

Yeah I screwed up. I bought mine at GameStop, and they offered the same warranty, but I opted out of it. I wanted a game with my extra $60 not another warranty...that's all the money I had. Had I known about the 360 problems before I bought it, I would have certainly bought the warranty first.
