OK, I've just bought a HD Tele, the new Samsung one, i know there is a switch on the scart for the 360, but it can't be as simple as that, what do i have to buy & do to get the 360 playing in HD then? I'm all pretty new to this! Do i just switch the scart over & thats it?

Its as simple as that. Plug in the HD cables to the tv in the component outlet. switch the xbox to hd on the cable. To further advance your reolution, under the xbox dashboard, go to system config, and crank up the resolution to whatever the most your t.v can handle. beware thoug, some games dont support the full resolution mode, so check back of games before trying to play them on highest res. cheers.

Comet - Home Entertainment - Televisions - Plasma and LCD TV - SAMSUNG - Samsung 32inch hd ready lcd idtv with exclusive dvd recorder (http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/323713.html)
Cheers mate, will give it a go then! That is the tele i bought! The res i think is 1080 x 720 i think.
Will there be a massive big diffrence? Is there a better quality Scart to buy? Monster cable or something, Ive got it set up to my cinema surround, a JVC one, got a Monster Scart for that, cost me a fortune but well worth it, the sound is fantastic!

Don't doubt it (sound sytem sounds good). Your T.V is nice. My tube is a 26" Widescreen HDTV by Samsung. Picture is really nice on it, but not LCD. I paid $300 CDN, and its worth a helluva lot more than that too me. Gotta love HD! yes, i think you will notice the graphics looking alot sharper and more enhanced (resolution). see for yourself. it rocks.

Whats better for the picture quality? 1080i or 720p? on the back of the boxes on the games that i have all say they support both, my TV does , so what res do i set the xbox on? I can't get on it yet the missus is watching some crappy program! Also, reading loads of other threads, whats the VGA cable? Mine are the component cables i think!

Component are the best. You know, I think that 720P and 1080i are almost exactly the same, but 720p might be a bit better. P (progressive) is always better than i (interlaced), so im not to sure how different they are. i set mine to 1080i. looks good enough.

walmart dude, walmart. they had it on clearance (not carrying t.v's anymore i think). It was $449 on clearance when i bought it, then it got marked down to $349, then $300. I went in and saw it at $300 and asked for a refund of the difference. They did, and so i got it for $300. Go there yourself! (mint condition, brand new with 1 year warranty too!)

I have a Samsung DLP. I have mine set to 1080i because it's a higher resolution that 720p. I got mind that 1080i is interlaced because I don't notice it. It just better on my TV set at 1080i then 720p, it might be different on other TVs though.

Not so. The VGA cable is better in terms of picture, especially since that Samsung TV has a native res of 1366x768.
I would heavily recommend the VGA cable. Be warned though, you will not get any sound through your TV's speakers. To get sound you have to have a surround sound with a digital TOSlink optical input, which yours is likely to have.
720p and 1080i are very similar, but the 1366x768 resolution the VGA cable allows would give you perfect 1:1 pixel mapping and would look incredible.

If its an action game 720P is your best choice. If its something with less movement 1080I is better.Asso, im from Canada and i paid 1400 for a High-Def LG 52" DLP. Really cheap, only problem i have with it is the PIP sucks ass.

nice to know, ive looked in my local wal*mart but was trying to stear clear of no name brands. Also didn't know what i should be looking out for, i was for some reason under the impression that some tvs were sold of as "HD READY" and werent "actually" HD, i guess the key is what kind of connections it accepts and also if its 720p, 1080i etc.. etc...
will have a look next time im at "the mart" :)

The TV is HDTV, supports 760p and 1080i (i have mine set to 1080i). Walmart here in winnipeg was clearing out all their HD TV's, maybe because they didnt sell. I was playing my 360 at first on a 27" flatscreen w/t prog scan, and the game was oblivion. I didnt get all the hype about the graphics and was disappointed. I went out that very sec and bought the first HD t.v i could find, and that was it. Now i know why Oblivion is raved about, and that thanks to HD. here is what t.v looks like. (read up about it, it gets really good reviews, and has some really great features. Alot of sites gave it "product of the month", and samsung have a good reputation right now with HDTVs)

Cheers for that, it acctually makes sense! Yeah the tele does have 1366x768 resolution, as for the sound i dont play it through the tele anyway, i do have a suround sound system, JVCS51 or something like that!! I have got that linked up to the scart with a fibre optic cable, through the optical input. The sound is perfect, just the pic could be better so i might go out & but a VGA cable then! Next up is XBox live, trying to set it up today via an ethernet cable, this has become to be a bit of a pain! I need to spend about another £120 to get it all wireless. Then i have everything set up smart! Girlfriend hates me now! ha ha
