I love my Xbox 360, its great, but i really don't know why the graphics are not better. Microsoft has said over and over again how the Xbox 360 is a very powerful system, but i'm not seeing the wow factor in the games. Yes they are much better, but not like i wanted, or like they made it sound like.

People keep saying that its the game developers that don't take advantage of the full potential of the console. My question is when are they going to?

Months have pass and i don't see any mayor graphic upgrades in the games, the only two games that look very nice are Ghost Recon and Fight Night Round 3 in my opinion.

I really hope that in the future, i can buy a game and say "Dam!! that looks amazing". Just like i did when i bought my PlayStation 2, and saw the difference of graphics from the playstation1.

Just wanted to let you know my opinion, what do you guys think?

couldnt agree more. in HD, even games like Hitman look amazingly different. I played Hitman for xbox 1 at my bros, and I have it on 360. You cant compare the 2 at all. I dont think you have an HDTV then or you would easily notice. Another game you forgot to mention though about the best looking is easily Kameo. That game is amazing to look at, and nothing likt that was even remotly possible on xbox 1, thats why they scrapped it for that system and remade it for 360.

I understand what he is saying about it not being stunning or whatever he said, (I do have HD) but then I plugged my PS2 back in and my jaw dropped at how bad it was. I guess I was getting use to the 360 graphics and didnt notcie as much until I went backwards and then the diff was very very obvious.

It is a new piece of hardware, the devs won't know how to code a triple core, 6 hardware thread CPU efficiently yet. Think of it like the automotive industry: each year in most racing series, the manufacturers get more and more out of the same engine. It is just a matter of time.

Well......you compare even Halo:CE to Halo 2 and you will notice a big difference. Even greater difference if comparing launch titles from the original xbox and say the likes of SC Chaos Theory or Chronicals of Riddick, both extremely good looking games.

Go to you local Bestbuy and try the xbox 360 on an HDTV there. Download Kameo on your xbox 360 play it on your tv, then try the exact game on an HDTV and you will tell the difference. I was playing chromehounds in HD today and WoW that games looks really good.

There does seem to be a tiny change in graphics with the xbox and the xbox 360. It is very hard to spot though

its a new console it takes a really long time to really take advantage of the hardware. And i can see a huge improvement from xbox to the 360 without my glasses.the second generation of 360 games look really amazing.just look at gears of war that game looks better gameplay wise and graphicly than most ps3 games

Well what is out now are the games that have been in development for a couple of years prior to the console's release. At that point it is un-certian exctly what the final system specs will be.
Now if they were going to make a release game they have to undershoot what they think it might be, If a game is to much the console can't run it then they have wasted years of development they have no platform for.

As for games, they have Gears of war and mass effect they are pretty stellar in the graphics department.

Its already been said but I'll say it again. Scotracer hit it right on the head:

It is a new piece of hardware, the devs won't know how to code a triple core, 6 hardware thread CPU efficiently yet.

Its comming, just be patient. You can't rush games, or they will be bad.

Hey, I think a lot of people aren't using a HD display. I have a friend who isn't running on one. I player Oblivion, Prey, and Burnout over there and on my monitor, and there is a HUGE difference. But, another thing is the physics put into games. Weather they are placed in graphics or other arias is a different story. Full Auto was almost like an XBox game, but the physics from stuff were insane! The calculation to be put through in real time would never have made it in a previous generation system. I won't say get your eyes checked, but I will say go to a display, and play something recent on a XBox or PS2. Yo will realise more how much a difference there is. A lot has been done, but without a HD display it looks like a slightly nicer last gen game. But, they reached limits for the standard definition display, hence the problem when playing a 360 game on a standard TV. I have a 26" SD TV and a 20" LCD wide-screen PC monitor, I will always play on my monitor because of the HD resolution support.

I played my 360 one of the SDTV's in my house, yesterday. It looks terrible compared with my HDTV. So, as 1031982 said, most pof you must not be playing on an HDTV because I am not unsatisfied with the visuals on my HDTV at all.

Dude developers will find different techniques on making better graphics, with better framerates also. The 360 is new, still a baby they need to get used to it. Look at first generation PS2 and Xbox games, they were bad, but newer games look better. Patience is the key

Its because from ps1 to ps2 we when from 2D to 3D which was a huge jump. Now we xbox 360 we get High Definition, better lighting, better physics, better A.I, better audio and just plain more power to do more work. Developers have had always cut things, so far with the xbox 360 they used old methods of programing and just extended it to fit as much as they can before switching programming methods. The xbox 360 has more power that the xbox so with first generation xbox 360 ports all we got was xbox 1 games that weren't cut and had upscaled textures. Now is when we see the next generation program techniques like High Dynamic Range lighting, Bump mapping, Crazy physics, little loading times, Full dynamic environments, using parallel mapping for the skies instead of old school sky boxes. It's only beginning and some of it is already here. Games take a good 2 to 3 years to develop so lets wait until atleast the end of the year to judge the games. If you think the games look great now wait until games like Lost Planet and Halo 3 hits. Those 2 games have millions spent just on visuals.

Take note that the cost of producing Gears of War, Lost Planet, and Mass Effect type visuals is enormous. Only the top publishers out there will be coming out with those types of jaw dropping games.
