Origen Xbox 360

A very strange new Xbox360 website has popped up on the internet. In fact, the only reason we know it is related to the Xbox360 is by way of the domain name, OrigenXbox360.com, and the site name "Origen Xbox 360".

The actual website itself is very simple, and more than a little strange. It depicts a countdown timer in the background (counting down from roughly 37 days, 11 hours), a tree overlaying the timer, and also the shape of a green rabbit!

So what makes this website special? Well, if you take a look at the whois details, you will see the following:

Microsoft Corporation
Domain Administrator
One Microsoft Way
Redmond, WA 98052
US
Email: [removed]

The registrant details, all the other domain contact details, and also the DNS servers that the site is hosted on, all match the same details for the domain xbox.com - therefore we can conclude this domain and the website are owned and hosted by Microsoft!

The only question that remains is what does it all mean? After a quick google search, it appears that "Origen" was some sort of Christian Theologist, so your guess is as good as mine. Check out the site here (http://ORIGENXBOX360.COM).

I have found the following code in the SWF file on the site. Could the data inputted by "target_mill" be the date that the site is counting down to? 27th August? But this does not coincide with the time that the site is counting down to.

The counter is counting down to midday on the 27th September 2005.

The "target_mill" line should really say "target_mill = date.utc(2005, 9, 27, 12);". The code seems to be adding a month on.

Isn't it amazing what we have come up with just by delving a little deeper. I must say - the content on the Origen site is pretty disappointing. There is no real mention of the Xbox 360 at all.

I have just been searching on the MS website for the word SWOT and I have come up with the following page:

I hope that the 360 Core System Package does not come out before the Premium System Package.

This will mean that many people will be getting the console before many others who actually want to pay more for a full package. Really, Microsoft should bring out the Premium Package out first so that people can advertise how excellent their wireless pads are and how good the hard drive is, or not as the case may be.

Hang on a sec. If you use the thing the MS guy said, and use the numbers as month dates, ie: 9 = sept, and 11 = Nov. Then use A, J and E as the continents: A =America, J = Japan, E = Europe . 11=fun for A,J and E* 9=fun for J not for A or E This could be saying that 11 (or November) is when something to do with the 360 will be in all 3 places. and that in 9 (or sept), something is happening in Japan, not America or Europe. 9th month (sept), is when the countdown will end.

Instead of altering your PC clock to the date the timer runs out (face it - we cant be bothered). Just right click on the flash file (the page basically) and hit "Play".

This will take you to the image of the expired timer.


Also, I am going to try to organise all of the information we gather, and complie it all into one post. Which could hopefully make it to a sticky, so we can refer to it and just see the cirrent situation.

Or somebody could update the Wiki? I have no idea with Wiki so you guys will have to do that.

When you search Ougen on google...you get a few linkz for a Japanese company that develops transformers.

Remember when that kid posted his fathers' beta 360 online? He commented that it had a HUGE power plug. Could it have been one of these transformers?

The Xbox is associated with the color green,so why would the rabit be green if your theory was true?Also, it seems like a contradiction to call MS the tortoise here, when their launch date is sooner(as planned) than the PS3.The tortoise,in the real story, was expected to come in second place.

Another thing...I could be wrong,but my calculations say the timer take us until September 26th at noon---which makes more sense to me since the 26th is a Monday,and the beginning of the commonly recognized "workweek"

Oh...I had a question:when I goto the Origen login page, I get a certificate warning stating something to the affect that someone may be trying to use the certificate to more or less hack my computer.I dont recall the actual wardage,so I paraphrased...but did anyone else see this?

I do know that MS is making a hard push for their HD-DVD versus the better known technology from Sony, Blu-ray...which verifies that blue,not green,is associated with Sony(not to mention all the blue in the dash of the PS and PS2--but no green)

I'm not exactly sure on the contest thing. They haven't released any details as of yet (as far as I know), so it's up in the air.

And who knows...would be insanely lucky if they DID get it before release though.

I found this on an other forum Piñata is going to be a game that you get free on the XBOX 2 hard drive. You put seeds in a virtual garden and water them and watch them grow. The more games you buy the bigger your garden gets. You do know that the X02 means Xbox 2002, right? At least that's what I think the X part means.

Perhaps it's not an announcement? Maybe it is the date when the first kiosks go into retail stores around the world? It seems more like it would be an event rather than an announcement.

Well if that is so, it would meen lines out the *** at every Kiosk for over a month. Being that what holds it up is not a sign, but the actual next-generation xbox. When the rabbit dissapears it can't be seen since it is painted white and the grey shadow of the tree obscures it! The post is a post, it's not a 360. You can see it's width is much large than it's depth. The white nails don't follow the vertical axis of the post - Not sure why, maybe it's just an imperfection. The concavity (if that's word) of the xbox 360 is not to the extent that those white dots suggest.

Okay, I think he's talking about Japan. Think about it, Xbox did the worst in Japan, and what he's basically talking about is redeeming the console to someone (Japan)

Also the tree's trunk is a lighter green than the base of the tree or the head where the branches start coming out. Doubt that has any significance, but doesn't hurt to point it out.

the rabbit has switched sides, the tree has a hole benath it, there are no nails in the rabbit anymore, the post is different, there are apples in the tree. and it has been moved closer.

Not sure if this has been posted already but there appears to be what looks like the chesire cat from alice in wonderland hidden in that darn tree.

Attached are 2 images, in '360' i have circled an area of the tree where if you look cross-eyed at this point you can almost make out a cat like shape. I have made this a little clearer in '360 2'
Given the amount of refrences to Alice in wonderland on and around the tree, this doesnt seem out of place and as i remember in the film, the cat does fade into view when in the tree. It took me a while to adjust my eyes so that they were'nt so blurry I couldn't make anything out, but if you do it right you will definetly see something.

Personally, I think that Microsoft will unveil a 'wonderland' on XboxLive that acts at a starting point to meet people and go into games from there. There would be a Marketplace to buy all that exclusive content. I imagine it would work similar to a MMORPG but with the emphasis on chatting and meeting up. This wonderland would also include MSN Messenger which would stay active the whole time you're on your Xbox, allowing you to recieve emails and IM's whilst playing games or watching films, this would take advantage of the keyboard announced for the 360 controller which until now has had little, if any use.

This could be referring to the DVD-9 (Dual Layer) specification but most likely means "September".

In the updated image, the whole image was NOT rotated. I pulled the original tree image capture into Photoshop and then overlayed the new tree image on the top of it to confirm the tree did not rotate. The tree did change, some (more leaves). Only the rabbit is moving. The rabbit is circling the tree on a stick very similar to how they do the "bait" rabbit for greyhound races.

The dark hole at the base of the tree seems to be expanding.

In addition to the apples, there is also what appears to be a broken limb in the left side of the tree.

I don't think the tree is rotated. Look at the original screen capture. See the big root on the left side that looks like a handle. It's still on the left side in the new version. You can nearly exactly overlay the original tree on top of the current one.

Well as someone said SWOT stands for Strenghts Weakenesses Opurtunities Threats, I took this in business class basically assess your product using this, what are the strenghts, what are the weakenesses, etc.. Hey guys im new here but figured i would play along with MS on their little game. I saved the .swf file from the site and opened it in a decompiler. i didnt find anything truly interesting inthe script but under the dump for the font i did find one word. Magritte. Not sure if this is just the font name or not but i did google the word and it came up with a surrealist artist named Rene Margritte. Upon futher inspection i found a couple of the paintings done by Margritte contained green apples similar to the ones on the tree.

Finding this to be interesting I began doing a search on ARGs once I learned the term from a friend and came across the ARG site. Looking at the gregs life Celcus school thing got me to wondering about a possible connection to Origen. I mean the "school" picture that is giving to us has does a suspicious looking tree in it. Thus I began Exploring the Greg's Blogs/jornal of the Three characters involved in this. I posted my findings of this search like this at the IGN community Forum.

found out that if you type anything behind the question mark on the .com site, it will allow you to do anything. On the .org or .net site it allows you to put up the question mark, but if you type anything after it, it takes you to a can not be found page.

Since then i have done some further research into all of this.

Greg's Journal was created on 8/21/05 and the starter of this thread received an email from him on 8/22/05, Origen went online at the same time it seems or around this time. If you look at Naomis Blog it say it was created in August of 05 as well even though there are dates to previous entries that date before this, but creation dates don't lie.

Also the fact that the missing head Master name is Jeremy Allenson is well weird figuring he share the same first name initial J and the same first three letters of the last name Al with. J Allard. Also all this buisness with the fruit for the school and also the fact that as somebody pointed out Origen and Celcus were two opposing forces in Christrianity philosophies. Some this is pretty weird Coincidence to say the least. Anyway I'll let everybody look this over and see what they think.

Sega didn't have 2 new hardware products in the Public view pipeline.

I really don't think Nintendo will be bought out. If anything it might be what MS did with Apple and and purchase some shares in Nintendo. But I doubt they have a online marketing campaign to reveal this.

Nintendo will buy back 2.2 million shares
Nintendo action done to fend off any hostile takeover; Square Enix bid for Taito seen as spurring the move.

TOKYO--Nintendo today said it would acquire 2.2 million shares of its own stock. The figure represents 1.55 percent of the 130.08 million shares currently outstanding. The company will purchase the shares next week and will pay 11,650 yen ($106) a share, the same as today's closing price.

The purchase is expected to cost the company a total of 25.63 billion yen ($233.5 million), assuming the company can acquire all 2.2 million shares.

Nintendo has been cautious about corporate takeovers for about the past year, analysts say. Today's move is seen as another step toward heading off any uninvited takeover bids. The Nintendo announcement comes only four days after Square Enix announced a friendly $600 million takeover bid for Taito.

Nintendo currently owns 11.59 million shares (8.9 percent) of its publicly issued stock.

There will never be a merger because MS doesn't need too. If anything it would be a Nintendo take over by MS but this is exactly what the article is saying Nintendo is trying to avoid.

it has to be something big, we know that everytime they've showed us a site like that, it's to announce a new console, but we've seen the xbox 360, so it has to be a big announcement (or a release date, but it's too weird for a release date). HD-DVD to me is not that annoucement, it's not big enough, a merger with nintendo is unlikely, a partnership with nintendo is possible, but I doubt it, all the nintendo fans are waiting for their revolution, it's a little late for them to turn around (well not that much, they don't have any specs out, or even what the controller will look like) It's hard to find out something big.

Actually, SEGA had two consoles that sold poorly, which is why they went to just making games. Despite being the worst selling this generation, Gamecube has still made a profit, so I wouldn't call it a flop.

And it has alot more than two good games.
