Whats its going to be? The paid memership option with more features, or just going to stick with the free option?

I have a current Xbox Live subscription, so from what I have read, I should get moved automatically over to the Gold option.

I voted for the Gold option, as I want to be able to access Live at anytime during the week. However having said that at the moment I'm going through a bit of a slump with Live. It's getting to the point where it's just the same old, same old day in day out. For me Live as become a little stale & stagnent. I'm finding I'm spending more time now replaying through the single player part of games again, and enjoying that far more. Afterall you can only take so much spawn camping (Conker) and verbal ****e (Halo 2) for so long then things start getting tedious. I'll see how things pan out over the coming months before I make a final descission, but for the moment I'll pay for the Gold service and hope the new games may inject some new life into Live for me.

I chose silver. Maybe partly from the fact that I currently don't have live so I don't really know what it's like. If it's free on the weekends thats even more motivation to stick with silver, singleplayer weekdays, multiplayer weekends.

I might subscribe every 3rd month or over long holidays to catch up with the "premium content".

I really don't know, I mean on the one hand I want the features of Gold, and on the other I don't want to pay for it. But in the end I'll probly go for Gold. This is why I really appreciate Nintendo's move of making online free.

I must admit I was under the impression that with the Silver option you were able to play on-line at weekends, but I was just reading an article on Xbox.com entitled 'Xbox 360: The Future of Entertainment' and reading through the section 'Xbox Live—New Levels of Service Get Everyone in the Game' it describes the differences between Silver and Gold Live subscriptions. Reading through the Silver Live option it doesn't mention about been able to play on-line at all, only in the premium, Gold option. Am I missing something or will you not be able to play on-line at all with the Silver option? It only mentions been able to download demos, trailers along, new game levels, maps, weapons, vehicles, skins, and community-created content. It mentions Live chat, sending messages using the market place to buy things but thats about it, nothing about on-line play. Can anyone enlighten me?

Like many people, I have a Xbox Live account currently. From everything I have heard and read this account should be transferable to the new Xbox360 Live. I think that Microsoft is doing the right thing by offering a free silver edition, this will increase the numbers of users on Live tremondously. I think once the silver crowd gets a nice taste of online gaming they will slowly move towards the benefits of a gold membership.

I doubt it will be free EVERY weekend, but for the price XBL hasnt let me down, so as long as the price is reasonable ill be getting the gold. Plus ill be getting PGR 3 as soon as its out and u cant have a good racing game without XBL and look what XBL did for halo 2.

I am going gold as my live account I have now will transfer over as gold. I work fulltime and I am in college fulltime so I like the option to play online at anytime or anyday and most people bought the xbox just for the online play. Most people when hear xbox they think of xbox live soon after.

To clearify, the free weekends does not indicate every weekend will be free for Silver members, it might be just once a month or when a big release comes out. Or it could be every week, I don't have exclusive access inside Microsoft any more then you guys do.

You can play games online, Grumpy. But only on special, pre-announced weekends, and those are rare but free. You CANNOT play for free every weekend. Only special ones.
