Posts: 36 | What not to do if you are a kid on Xbox live Now before i get started most of you may be wondering why i am posting at 1:05 in the morning, well i cant sleep and i feel like i'm going to
Anyways on to the subject at hand.
I am a kid (13) and i play Halo 3, but i have picked up a few tips on what not to do if you don't want everyone to hate (or kill) you.
1: Don't talk to much.
Now my parents say don't talk unless you are spoken to. I sort of obey that rule on Xbox live. If i have a plan to get the flag i'll say it and if someone ask's me something i'll reply but when you here a high pitched voice talking excessively it gets annoying....FAST
2: Dont bad mouth people.
Don't bad mouth people in the Pre/Post game lobby. For people that are older its fine but if that high pitched loud mouth cursing kid starts smack talking he'll be muted faster then well anything. Which brings me to my next point,
3: Don't curse excessively.
Im fine if me or a kid brings out a curse word every once and a while but if you say 2 F words 4 A words 2 P words in a sentence again people will mute you in the blink of a eye.
4: Be curtsies
Be nice and just think 10, 11,12, 13, 14 and 15 year olds the people your being mean to can come over to you home and kick you A$$
Anyways that wraps it up. Follow these guide lines young people and you will be liked by people in there 20s,30s,40s AND BEYOND.
Oh yea one more thing WE HAVE HIGH VOICES. Its true for all kids my age.
Just get use to it and let nature take its course.
Please remember this is my first thread so don't flame me to hard. |

Posts: 808 | I wont flame you. I am 31 and play all the time on live. My younger brother and newphew just recently got their 360's and are both 11 years old. I gave them pretty much the same advice you've mentioned above. It just seems though that as a kid its hard for them to know how to take a joke from a adult, or respond to inuendo as well etc. Sometimes they think people are complimenting them but are actually sarcastically taking the piss out of them.
So I advise them to keep a low profile as well, and refrain from excess chatter as well.
I must admit, it must be hard for a kid on XBL to build up a good rep, with minimal talking going on. I always advise my brother to give people good rep if they've been a good person to play with, and they often always do the same back.
Live is for everyone and all people on live need to understand that. Also, select your group wisely as well. If you choose underground and your a kid, you will pair up with a different bunch of people. For instance, both my brother and nephew are set to Family. I am set to Pro. I've heard when online it tries to match categories of people based on their selections.

Posts: 3,263 | That's good policy. My rule of thumb is no one under 18 on my list, mostly for the reasons you've pointed out. There are exceptions, of course, as I've added kids that act like adults, and booted adults that act like kids. |
