Default Gaming Journalism Gone Wrong

This was brought to my attention via Chad, a listener of the Podcast, who thought I might be interested in its content.

Ask an expert: "Which videogame console is best?"

"While each of the next-generation gaming consoles has its merits, given your situation I'd recommend the 80 GB model of the PlayStation®3 (PS3). The 80 GB PS3 is backward compatible with over 1,000 PS2 titles (ahh no more emotion chip?) , so with this console you'll still be able to play most of your old games. Plus, with PS3 exclusives like "Heavenly Sword", "Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction" and "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune", (wow you could only name 3?) you'll enjoy some of the best in next-generation gaming.

A powerful Cell processor.
There's nothing like playing your games in high definition (HD) (and the 360 cannot provide this same feature because .....?). The PS3's super-powerful (No, not just powerful, "super-powerful"), IBM-designed Cell Broadband Engine advanced microprocessor, which has up to eight Synergistic Processor Units (SPUs), delivers the most realistic and intense console gaming experience possible today (Can you provide me with an example?). The console's SIXAXIS™ wireless controller is another PS3 highlight, as it features a multi-axis motion sensing system that translates your movements into the game (thanks for the explanation Captain Obvious).

An all-in-one media centre.
Another huge bonus to choosing the 80GB PS3 is that it also doubles as a fully functioning Blu-ray Disc™ player, so you can enjoy the latest high-definition (HD) movies. That means that, coupled with a high-definition TV (HDTV), your PS3 can be the centre of your HD home theatre system (coupled with an HD DVD add on or better yet, alone with the Live VMP, why cannot the 360 be the same?). Plus, its High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) ensures that your HDTV gets the full HD 1080p picture (ah yes, looks like Sony lackeys have replaced "true 1080p" with "full 1080p". and the 360 can't do the same because ...?). And, to top it off, the PS3 plays DVDs and CDs, too. (No ****??. Damn I'm on my way to go scoop one up for $700 if that's the case!)

Finally, if you're looking to download and store your games, music, videos and photos, that won't be a problem with the PS3's ample 80GB hard drive. (I'm not the greatest with math but last I checked 120gb was larger than 80gb and the 360 had more **** to download) The console also features built-in Wi-Fi®, which means that you have wireless Internet connectivity (via your wireless router and home DSL or cable connection) without having to buy any accessories.

Other options.
Ultimately, a good strategy for choosing a gaming console is to look at the games that are available for each one. If you're interested in an innovative console that has games for the whole family (like "Wii Sports", "Super Mario Galaxy" and "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess"), the Wii™ should be a serious consideration.

The Xbox 360™ is also a great high-powered system that has many acclaimed games (like "Bioshock", "Halo 3" and "Mass Effect"), and its Xbox Live® service allows players to compete online and download arcade games and other content. (wow, 37 word comparison to the 360. BRAVO!!!)

Go with what you know - at least for starters.
In the end, however, the PS3 is likely the best choice for you, considering that you're already familiar with the PlayStation platform, (yeah it must be impossible to learn how to play another console altogether) and you already have a collection of games that you can play on it. The fact that the PS3 can also play high-definition Blu-ray Disc movies makes it a very compelling choice. (Yes, please be another Trojan statistic for Sony)

All in all, the PS3 is not just a great next-gen gaming system, it's an all-in-one media centre that everyone can enjoy. (and the 360 is not the same because ....?)

WTF?!?!
Honestly, it is dumb ****s like this that give the term "gaming journalist" a bad name. This could not be a more myopic, biased, and misleading editorial as no "real" comparison was made. Rather than illustrating both the pros and the cons of the PS3, this imbecile decided to jock Sony sack and help further the Sony propaganda machine. I encourage all of you open minded readers to email this "expert" crackhead and in an intelligent manner, inform him to recheck his calculations and quit his current job before he jumps on Sony payroll. If you want to give an opinion provide the reader with everything or nothing and not just focus on what it can do but also what it can't and what it hasn't been doing.

Ahahahahaha.

Come on, you know an employee will use the relative ignorance of the public to push his own agenda. But that **** is funny

Futureshop (owned by Best Buy) is awful for this type of thing. I like shopping there simply because they price match 110% meaning that wherever the cheapest place to get something from is, FS will price
