Default Oblivion or Assassin's Creed?

I need a little advise...I want to buy a new game. I've been seeing some really good reviews about Assassin's Creed and then some pretty bad ones. I must say I have never seen such a contrast in reviews from both reviewers and consumers. It seems like a game that you either love or hate. I've been hearing from almost everyone that it becomes old fast and becomes repetitive.
Is that true?

Sorry for posting this, but I'm a kind of guy that likes to get his money's worth when buying a game, especially a $60 game. I am torn between Assassin's Creed and Elder Scrolls Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition. I've played Oblivion before so I know I'll love it, I played it on the PC before I had an Xbox and rushed through it and beat it. I'm sure I could get lots of playtime playing through and doing all the side quests again and playing the expansions.

Any words of advise on my next game purchase?

P.S. I can't wait for GTA IV

Well do you enjoy action games or rpgs better? I have both, I like Assassins Creed a lot but there are some things that annoy the **** out of me about it. I must say it does get repetitive but it is still a great game imo. As for oblivion I was actually pretty disappointed with the game and really couldn't get into it, probably because of how much time was needed. So I would personally suggest Assassin's Creed but thats just my opinion. Since you already know you like oblivion that could change things. Plus I think the GOTY edition has both expansions?

Assassins Creed falls under the "Excellent rent" category. The game is cool as hell in all aspects of gameplay but completing the same save citizen, eavesdrop, intimidate mini-missions and then assassinate your primary target wears thin fast. The ending is a huge let down also *COUGH* Halo 2 *COUGH*. If you want your moneys worth get Oblivion for sure. I played that game around 130 hours and tried to do all the content and theres still loads more, the game isn't over even when your master of all the guilds and beat the main storyline. Plenty of cool stuff to keep you entertained. Ever since I got Live awhile back I hadn't played it much but it was like the only thing I played for a looong time. For sure buy.

Of the free roaming games I'd side with Oblivion. But if you can wait that bit longer GTA. Why not rent or something, its a good idea i think to rent the games that don't have online play on them, that way they wont just sit in there case after you've completed it.

Yea, courtman...you have a point. I'm definitely getting GTA for sure. I'll probably just rent something for now.
