Do you have a plug and play cable? Does it do the same thing when plugged into the USB port?

Posts: 771 | So when you are plugged in, it works fine but when you detach to go wireless it shuts off after 10 mins? that sounds alot like what was happening with my Play & Charge kit.. I used rechargable camera batteries for a long time but decided to pick up a microsoft play n charge kit.
Sadly the battery in the kit would only hold a charge for about 15 minutes before it would shut down and require me to plug back in... I returned it to the store for a refund and went back to batteries.
Later I was given a Nyco battery pack/charger set as a gift and they work just fine, the battery pack lasts about 20-30 hours and there are 2 batteries on the charger so it's quick to swap out the pack.

Posts: 3,265 | It sounds like the rechargable battery is nearing the end of its life. I have a couple that seem to hold less of a charge than the others, but I still get hours of play out of them. Does it do the same thing when you use AA batteries? If so, you can pick up another rechargable battery for $10-$12.

Posts: 2,295 | i don't know about the 360 packs, but most rechargeable batteries, they last longer if you cycle through them...bring them down to almost empty before charging them back up, then unplugging them when they full. i know some newer equipment stops the charge, so it doesn't continue to send a charge. i have lost some good batteries leaving them on the charger after they full.
i know the instructions say it takes a couple fills to fully maximize the length of time between charges on the controller packs. so the first few will be shorter, but then gain in length between charges.

Posts: 2,295 | the wireless can burn through the batteries pretty fast, especially if you didn't use fresh batteries. using the rumble feature will really take the life expectancy down even further.
before i got the rechargeable pack for the controllers, i could easily go through a couple of aa's in a week. and when they get low, you disconnect a lot. i also notice on mine, that the lights around the 'x' symbol will flash in a sequence, then return to the 'controller 1' position.

Posts: 1,226 | Don't mean to rub it in but i never had a problem with my controller i bought a new one new years day and only replaced the batteries last week. I have to admit the controllers do feel kind of cheap and tacky thats how mine broke the rumble feature packed in. Also the play & charge kits are completely S***. |

However had the cable been longer i might of kept it, i didn't pay extra for a wireless controller to have always wired to my 360. So i just keep a plentiful supply of Kodak batteries in drawer they last for hours. |

Posts: 1,054 | I usually just plug my controller in before I turn the 360 off, that way, it starts charging and once you turn the 360 off, the power brick stays on in order to keep charging the controller. Once the charge is complete, everything automatically turns off.

I must of done something wrong in the process either way i'll still use batteries. |
