Top 10 Overrated Game Franchises of All Time

Ever since the dawn of man people have figured out that if you make something successful, and then make some similar to that first thing that it will also make millions of dollars. Sometimes it works great (Star Wars IV-VI) and sometimes it's a complete disaster (Star Wars I-III); because of this fact we decided to go back and pick what we believed to be the top 10 overrated game franchises of all time; it's after the jump: </img>

Gotta disagree with Resident Evil and definitely God of War which is one of my favorite series of all time. Oh and Pokemon is definitely FTW! I grew up on the games, easily one of the most addicting franchises of all time. I do agree with the GTA, Halo and Guitar Hero/Rock Band picks though.

i disagree with gta and resident evil being on the list but halo should have been #2 imo, and rock band/gh definately deserve to be #1

true dat. halo. what is with rock band/ guitar hero? they pump one of those out every other month. plus all the DLC for them. i find them not too fun. sometimes with friends, but if you find yourself playing it alone, a lot, you need to admit you may have a problem. if you find yourself stashing copies of rockband around your house, you may have a problem. if you miss work due to playing it, you may have a problem.

at least with rock band they werent trying to force you to GamingGamingGaming a new damn guitar with every itteration.. ugh. i do have to agree they are a money sucker. i know ive spent more in DLC than I did for the Rockband setup..LOL But i did it because i enjoy playing it by myself and with friends.

I would have brought final fantasy to the top of the heap with halo and GH. Any game that is as much cutscene as it is gameplay diserves it. Good thing we dont have Metal Gear Solid, because it would be #1 on my list.

think the only thing I disagree with is the article title.... they are all awesome franchises and earned their huge names.

I'd probably name the article something like top 10 franchises that are getting stale.

and I hope God of War and that horrible quick time event gameplay dies very soon.
