Posts: 515 | Both are great games. But I didn't know the 360 had Resident Evil?
I've played all of the Resident Evil games, and all of them are ingrained in my memory as phenomenal games. You shouldn't be disappointed with any of them, no matter which one you decide to pick up and play.
As far as Dead Rising, this also is a very solid game. It's gives you freedom to roam and do what you like. Unlike Resident Evil, which gives you a steady path to follow, Dead Rising is free-roam, giving you the ability to check out that little extra detail that piques your curiousity. Or to put that shotgun straight to the head of tons of zombies(Even do alittle zombie-mowing with your high powered grass mower!). Ride a bike, motorcycle, car, chainsaw, sledge-hammer, bowling ball, cash register, baseball bat, karate kicks; all in the name of self defense from brain eating zombies!
What i'm trying to say is that they are both different games in terms of design and gameplay. But both stand out as being great Horror games. No matter which one you choose, you'll be happy. |

Posts: 886 | Definately Resident Evil series for me is the best. I've kind of always boycotted the Resident Evil series because it was on PS1. But as a gamecube owner, several years ago I was stoked to get a remake and refreshening of Resident Evil 1. It was the best game on Cube. Then, a entirely new game Resident Evil 0 was made. Shortly after direct PS2 ports (horrible) were released on Cube, Resident Evil 2 & 3. Then came the best game ever in the series, Resident Evil 4, a exclusive at the time, and the best version ever released (IMO) to the genre. Following was also code Veronica, a Dreamcast Port (not too shabby) came out, but still no RE4, that totally reset the bar in terms of gameplay.
Hence, thats my exposure on the RE series, and to be honest, when I play that game, the sight of a crimson head zombie, running full belt toward me, still gets the blood pumping. It certainly with its music score as well, sets the mood and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Hence why I chose it over the Dead Rising title. Sure, its a fun game, hurling things at zombies, but its almost comical and fun to do, and not very scary. Thats what made resident evil a blast to play, the sound, the graphics etc. Having 2 dobermans jump through glass windows, still makes me jump everytime! I just didn't feel that on Dead Rising.
Hence Resident Evil for me.
Also, a while ago on IGN (sorry for mentioning another site), posted a trailer from a Capcom event for Resident Evil 5 on PS3/360. It was pulled from the site the next day with a apology for releasing something that was never intended to be released. It looked amazing and unreal! But its all over the internet now. Capcom has announced this is a title for 360, hence part of the reason I chose 360 as well, as I want to continue the franchises in HD and Dolby Digital sound!
Further, after seeing the Wii's latest version of Resident Evil 4 on Wii, its certainly supposed to be better with the new Wii Mote, but, its just a new port. The new Umbrella Chronicles was supposed to be a new game, but its basically a mix of RE0-RE3, and plays like a House of the Dead on rails shooter. Hence its taken a whole new direction which has dissapointed allot of RE fans. So if you are a RE fan, Xbox 360/PS3's upcoming RE5, should be the juice to sustain your life, I know it will for me.

Posts: 807 | Dead rising turned out to be pretty kick ass. I wasn't expecting much more than the standard Resident Evil Style zombie masher game but it really takes off like a rocket when you're playing. Having played 90% of the Resident Evil games I can honestly say that Dead Rising tops them or at least ties with the betters ones. |

There is a unique item that you get from one boss that you will want to hold onto and only use to fight other bosses but ALL weapons in the game wear out and break so....use it sparingly... hehehe NO SPOILERS
