Posts: 2,941 | Burnout Paradise Is anyone else playing this yet? I'm loving the game so far. For me the key elements are the seamless ability to go on/offline, the huge city with a wide variety of twisting, turning roads as well as congested urban areas and a plethora of challenge types and "collectables". At first I thought I'd disable my cam, but after playing I've found the Mugshot feature is actually kind of cool. My first mugshot capture is hilarious, with the kid looking like he saw a ghost.
My only issue with the game is FFB wheel support. You can obviously use the wheel, but the lack of a Y axis is a detriment in Showtime events. It's not a huge deal, but what sort of gamer would we be if we didn't seek out flaws?
Overall, this was a great purchase in my book. Your thoughts???

Posts: 1,500 | saw this for sale today at best buy. i liked all the burnouts on the ps2 (until they got hard and i couldn't finish them...that sucks), so i might score this game when it comes down in price a bit. i did have a demo for a burnout when i got my elite. it looked good and it was fun. and that was an older game, so this one should look a bit better too.

Its just straight out arcade fun. You do unlock cars and can go to the paint shop to change its colour if you want, but thats about it.
I always figured need for speed was more about the car customization that you speak of rather than burnout.

Posts: 116 | I like how you do'nt have to use money. When your car gets crushed, you get to fix it for free. Plus, to unlock cars, you just crash them and get them at the junkyard. It is a good game, just not my type of racer.

Posts: 1,500 | yeah, the burnout series is definitely on the arcade side of the equation for race games. that is probably i liked them so much. they always do a good job of giving that 'speed' feel as you race, and taking down other cars is pretty cool. it is nice you don't have to worry about upgrading your cars, just unlocking new ones.

Posts: 2,941 | Speaking of new cars, you can enter the following codes to unlock additional cars: "bestbuy", "circuitcity","gamestop","walmart". The codes will accepted at an time, but the cars are not unlocked until later in the game. 2 were unlocked when I got my A license (the Gamestop car is my new favorite stunt car). Still waiting on the other two.
I've been whoring this game big time. I have only about 40 smashes, 40 billboards and 20 super jumps left to find. I'm still missing one or two car parks.

As for the Japanese, good luck with that. You'll be looking to replace the intake manifold and end up with a new cams instead! It's your punishment for getting GT5 before the rest of us! |
