Help streaming media

I cant seem to get my pc to stream media to my 360. I am running Xp w/sp2 and all updates current. I downloaded Windows media player 11. When I click on share media my 360 doesn't show up in the box so I can select it. the box is just empty. On the 360 end (which btw is connected by ethernet cable to my router) the media connection test fails at "pc".
Any ideas at all?
I am able to use xbox live so I know the connection is ok. Is there something I have to do on the 360 for it to accept the connection to the pc?

i had an issue with this too. xbox was wired to the router and everything. it was my firewall. as soon as i turned it off, there was no issue. (so maybe try turning yours off and see if it works, at least you'll eliminate a variable) but i rather have a firewall up then be able to stream stuff to the 360. i had media player 11, and i tried that zune thing too.

maybe the link karma posted will have what ports you need to keep open so your firewall will allow the stream.

now i have a new computer with that media center on it, and it detected my 360 without me doing anything.

I prefer to use Tversity to stream my media.
