Default Burnout confirmed for 360

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/635/635012p1.html

Quote:
July 19, 2005 - An Electronic Arts spokesperson told IGN today that a version of Burnout Revenge will ship to Xbox 360 in 2006, countering previous statements made by the company.

Confusing the matter, Criterion's fourth games in the series is erroneously posted on EBGames.com and GameStop.com as shipping this November to Xbox 360, which EA denied. Both sites list Burnout Revenge as a pre-order item including a release date of November 11, 2005.

"There will be a next gen title [in the Burnout series], but not this year," an EA spokesperson told IGN.com. No further details -- from the kinds of additions, timing, price, etc. -- were revealed.

Burnout Revenge is currently slated for a fall release on Xbox and PlayStation 2. Criterion Designer Alex Ward has consistently said it's not a next generation game, but this confirmation clarifies matters. EA is launching five titles on Xbox 360 this fall -- Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Madden NFL 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, NBA Live 06, and FIFA Soccer 06, with recent news that The Godfather would slip to winter 2006.

Having been purchased by EA last year, Criterion, once a one-game-a year developer, is now in development with at two games, Burnout Revenge and Black, due in February 2006, plus a 360 version of Burnout Revenge for 360 in 2006. Likely changes will include improved resolution, graphic detail, and other technical enhancements. We speculate that Criterion is also likely to add extra or different modes to distinguish the 360 version.
Maybe it'll be worth holding out for this version, instead.

For the sake of a few months it may be worth it, even if it's just for a better looking game.

For me Burnout 3 was a massive disappointment.

Lets hope this next version gets the series back on track
