Posts: 96 | NFS: Carbon demo is horrible....EA needs to fix before release!!! Yes ladies and gentlemen....yet another NFS title that is exactly the same but lacking in some departments.
The only thing that I find myself liking about this game is the autosculpt. I know this is only the demo version but it should be an accurate portrayal of the full version coming out next month. The customization seems like it will be off the charts with this game. EA has now given the player the ability to fabricate your own bodykits, wheels, hoods, etc. to create the "one-of-a-kind" car to your liking. The circuit race is pretty straight forward and is pretty easy to get through and the inclusion of the teammates is cool. Teammates can be commanded to block or take-out other drivers on the track during a race. Drifting has been streamlined and can be a bit difficult to master at first but after a few laps it gets easier to link drifts together for massive amounts of points. The canyon run is a neat idea but in the long run...very flawed while playing against an A.I. opponent. My biggest complaints are the A.I. cars filled with concrete (can't be moved/pushed outta the way), the insane rubber band effect (A.I. opponents flying up behind you after crashing) and the horrible frame rate (too many effects cause the races to be very choppy at times). One of the down hill runs set me up against the leader of the canyon in the demo. Once I finally get around him he zips up behind me (mind you that there is no nitrous in the canyon runs) and pushes me for about a 1/4 of the track at 170mph (my Camaro SS against his RX-7) across the finish line. I tried to run him down after that and my car just bounces off of him and he never misses a beat; no sliding, no mistakes and is pretty much a fast moving freight train. I figure that the autosculpt customization and team play will be the only saving grace for this game and unless EA tweaks the A.I., gameplay and car physics before it hits the shelves I give this game a 6.8/10. Play the demo...you guys will see what I mean. EA please fix this game!!!
