COD4 prestige

i'm new to COD4. really new. so i don't get what prestige is and why you would want it. i saw a youtube vid of a guy going into level 10 prestige, and it looks like all it does is just erase everything you've worked your butt of for except your leaderboard rankings. am i missing something? you spend countless hours getting all that stuff, and you voluntarily give it up? someone please explain this to me as if i'm a 4-year old.

You figured it out all by yourself. It gives you a special badge so you can look cool to all the other kids that play COD4 all day and never leave the house.

yeah it's pretty sad, all you get is a higher nerd ranking. i held onto level 55 as long as i could so i could keep my weapons but then my flatmates moaned so much that i just gave in a let em start prestige, now i've moved home for the summer and i have no .50 cal etc lol...bastards

screw it anyway, i got GTA, no need for stinkin COD anymore

I made it to level 45, and i am getting burned out on it. i just get my butt kicked to fast, that it isn't very fun. i think online FPS are better on a PC, hands down.

i have a regular group that i play with.. 2 of which are in prestige mode. I dont see a point to it.. but then again if i would stop playing gta4 and play every night with them, id be there too.. oh well... back to gta4 i go!

after a while you get bored with using the same ACOG scoped guns so you end up entering prestige....... i'm at just over 480 hours of game time and i'm a couple levels shy of entering 8th prestige. i just want to hit the gold cross prestige so that i'm all set in case they ever add in perks for prestige classes..

At least you have a goal. i don't think i'll make it through the first prestige. i would like to finish the game on vet.

i only have a couple hours logged in online play as i just enjoyed trying to do everything in single player. i completed every mission on vet except for Shock and Awe which just kicks my butt too much. 480 hours sounds like a lot. i haven't spent 480 hours on my entire 360 in the past year.

lol i'm not sure if i've spent that many hours on my 360 period, since i got it 2 years ago...but that's elder for you, ontop of that he has like over 1,000 hours on chromehounds too lol

Yo, i am a 10th prestige, I have a life with a great girlfriend, i spend time with my family, go work out, play the real guitar (2nd year into it), ....Not every tenth prestige is a nerd. I like to play that game just like you guys play Gow, Orange Box, etc. Some people just prefer to play this game. So lay off all this BS that 10th prestiges are at the bottom of the Gaming Pyramid.

Just like APEX said, 10th prestige doesn't mean you don't have a life. I go to the pool almost every day, and hangout with friends, just like every other kid. Sure, I play COD alot (a little too much), but alot of you guys bitching sit on your computer just as long, probably longer. And I don't care if your excuse is being bored at work. My opinion is the game has been out a while in the video game world.
And it does not show someone has not got a life but rather they have clocked in a lot of hours on a stretched period of time, though I did agree back when the game was relativly new and average player was prestige 5 below.

It was pretty smart to do presitge mode. Its a game I see people playing online for a while, even longer than intended. I'm not even to lvl 55 yet so I'm not sure how far I'd go. Prestige 10? Damn. I'm getting bored just making it to 55 for the first time. But if it floats your boat cool.
