Rock Band’s Guitar Revealed

The guitar looks awesome but I can't find the picture of drums prototype and microphone. If you want see what the drums look like, I can give u a pic on xbox live since its in my magazine. It is rumored to cost around $200, which should include guitar,drums, and microphone.

Guitar and Bass
The new Fender Stratocaster will double as the instrument for both the bassist and guitarist in Rock Band, thus sacrificing some level of authenticity to allow for easier switching between roles in the band. Xbox 360 owners will be happy to know that their X-Plorer guitar controllers will definitely work in rock band. However, it could be tough to not run out and grab the new controller and the new features that come with it. There will be the five familiar buttons that will dominate the lower frets, with their colors only visible on the side of the fret-board. Five new buttons sit high above near the guitar body. While the same colors adorn. These buttons, a new feature in the game will allow players to jump to these high frets during certain challenging solo lines and play through those sections using ONLY hammer-ons and pull-offs, freeing you from the required coordination with your strum bar. The signature Fender five-way switch has also been added. By shopping at the in-game store, you'll be able to purchase several virtual effects pedals, such as flange,wah,chorus, or echo. These can then be applied during your song by moving the five-way switch to your desired effect, further personilizing the sound you create. Two of the nobs near the base of the body are now replaced by the Start and Select buttons, making it easy once again to palm the Select button to deploy Star Power, like with the original PS2 guitar.

The Drums
While Harmonix handn't finalized every aspect of the final drum set, they did have a working prototype that is unlikely to change dramatically before release. For purposes of consistency in laying out the notes, there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of flexibility for moving around the different pads. With that said, they've set up the drums to emulate the traditional set-up of a normal kit. The left-most pad, colored red, is your snare. Moving left from there, the yellow, blue, and green pads share duties as cymbals and toms, although when needed the yellow will almost always double as the high hat, and the far right green pad serves as the crash cymbal. A set of real wooden drum stick will ship with the unit, letting you bang away to your heart's content. A firm metal stand holds the unit up, and can be adjusted to your height preference. A lower piece of the stand can be removed so that the whole unit will sit not on the floor, but instead a nearby coffee table. Below, a single kick pedal introduces the challenge of a third limb in action, completing the set.

Microphone
Nothing too exciting here, other than the fact that Harmonix does plan to realease a Rock Band branded mic. Other USB microphones will be supported, but Harmonix will probably not allow the usage of the 360 headset mic, its fidelity just isn't very good. What sets the vocal stylings of Rock Band apart isn't the mic, but the word detection and tapping mechanic, like a tamborine, built into the gameplay.

Customization
Like any good band, you'll want to customize your style to say something about who you are. To this end, a brand new character creation system lets you craft your own unique avatar. Each avatar you make will play a particular instrument or sing, so you may make several for your different runs through the game. You'll set their gender,height, and physique as well as picking a face and hairstyle. Beyond the return of licensed guitars,pedals, and other rock paraphernalia, you'll also now have four themed clothing and accesory stores to outfit your character- Punk,Metal,Goth, and Classic Rock. Finally, a full set of motion-captured stage movements have been included for each of the four major genres on each instrument- you'll pick one to show off whether your musician rolls like Axl or stands his ground like Clapton.

Online
The online part is still under wraps, but all four parts of the band will be able to be played online with others around the world.

If $200 is accurate, then screw that. If I want to drop that much cash on something I'll be bored with after 6 weeks, I'll get a Wii.

well they were also talking about how much you will be able to customize your band, like making your own logo. oh yeah, and the graphics look REALLY good, which should be expected.

for 200 you can get a starter guitar...a real one and the best thing about real guitars is...you can play anything

For $200, the graphics better be mind-blowing. In fact, for $200 I want to be able to smell weed filling the concert hall, and have Jenna Jameson as my backstage groupie.

I didnt think you had to spend that much on it though. I thought it was $200 if you want the entire package. Cant you just get one piece like the drums and have your buds play the other instruments. I dont know how this works yet but that is what I was assuming.

I did read where it says if you get the drum set it will actually go a long way towards teaching you how to play the real drums, unlike the guitar which doesnt teach you anything.

sounds awesome, im excited about it, but $200 is alot, hopefully it includes everything, thats the only way i can justify that price point. we'll see....

it really doesnt matter what you said because until its at gamestop, best buy etc, you dont know what will be included, just how the early xbox360 specs stated it would have built in wifi.....

being a big guitar hero 2 fan on the 360 im following rock band closely. I already have the x-plorer guitar at first and my thoughts were to get the guitar hero 3 package and then have 2 guitars for multi player goodness. Rock Band is really throwing a spanner in the works cause from early viewing the game looks like its going to kick ass.

Gonna be an expensive fall if these release date's stay on track
