Posts: 2,442 | The Bioshock Thread (non demo) Have you played it yet? No?? Then what the heck are you waiting for. This game is amazing and crazy! Besides all that beautiful and high detail scenery it also boasts great physics and really good enemy intelligence.
Where is everyone in the game???
Right now im taking the camera back to that wierdo at the fishery. Make sure you take pictures of everyone before you kill them for "research", because you start getting cool bonuses along with finding their weak spots. Great example is that once you take enough pics of the spider splicers (the wierdos w/ hooks in their hands that crawl along the wall) you find out that you can eat their organs for health!! Good stuff der!
I also love the detail of the game... especially when things catch fire. Anything that should catch fire, will, and when the fire dies out anything that was on fire is now charbroiled, instead of just going back to "normal" like most other games.
Any funny instances you have run across with the enemys??
The most recent one for me was when i was at the dentist's office and incinerated a splicer who came in the room after everyone else died. She ran around like a crazy horse trying to get to the water to douse herself out, on the way lighting up some corpses I had recently made. Anyways, she jumps in the water but hurts herself for landing on an object when she did, when she gets out of the water, she starts trying to find me and when she does she starts running twards me but goes to dodge a bullet i was firing. When she dodged she ran over the flaming corpses and caught herself back on fire and killed herself... It was awesome!

Posts: 2,442 | it has its moments.
there was one where i was in the surgens office, listening to a diary at a desk. I turned around to go somewhere else, and one of the spider splicers was breathing down my neck. He actually waited till i turned completely around to be suprized, and said hello there, before he stabbed me. Its the only time so far in the game, and im not sure it was on purpose or just the AI having fun (which it does alot, great AI). Theres alot of the shadowy kinda "creep factor", and definatly alot of detail and gore.
Don, if you didnt like the demo, i suggest u go rent this. Its probably the best game ive played since i dont know when. It gets very engrossing.

Posts: 828 | I didn't think the game demo was perfect, but will totally try the game and may find it exhilarating. Hey, people hated forza demo, but look at the game. Dont discount this game just because of the demo being what it was (see other thread).
Give it a go,
I am.

Posts: 2,442 | the way the first level plays out in the demo, and the way it plays out in the game are totally separate. I found myself expecting this and that, and so many times that i did, i was wrong because they changed it up. Just give it a try. No game is for everyone, but this game is definatly a killer app.

Posts: 3,238 | I picked up the game last night and spent a couple hours with it and I'm impressed. I'm not a fan of single player shooters, but this one looks like it has some replay value for me, as there are point where you are presented with "good" and "evil" options that impact game play.
A little tip...if you're still thinking about getting Bioshock, Circuit City is selling it for $50. I think most other retailers are selling it at full price.

Posts: 99 | Wow... The AI in this game is simply brilliant. Best game I have played in a long time, more so then even Halo. The biggest downside for me is going to be the lack of a multiplayer, as I could only see replaying this 3 or 4 times before I got tired of looking for things to find. As it is, I'm taking my time with this game more then any other, just trying to make sure I find all the diaries that add so much to the story. |

Posts: 792 | I found a dude that traded me Lost Planet and The Darkness for a new unopened copy of Bioshock and it rocks!. The demo does not do the game justice except as a teaser. the demo is just part of the intro level of the game where there isn't a whole lot to do. Get the game and you will discover a much deeper world in the game. Nothing says sweet like having 6 splicers rush you and dropping them each with one shot to the head from your revolver's anti-person bullets.
AND OMG finally a game where you are collecting dollar bills rather than anonymous gold coins or universal credits! |

Posts: 828 | I just picked up my copy on my lunch break today, so I'm still at work now and wont get to play it till tonight of course. Any tips for acheivements, ie, what level should I do the game on, should I be aware of collecting anything or not using something etc?
I hate it when you get 50% through something and realise you've gotta do it all again without using grenades to get a acheivement. I'd like to know on stuff like this. If anyone has any ideas, let us know.

Posts: 2,442 | boost, i dont know that ive ever seen the "achievement" thing pop up. there are some things to do, but so far i havent seen any "collectables" that serve no purpose other than achievment points. Everything that is in the game pertains to the storyline.
