Guitar Hero III & Rock Band

I'm a nooby so excuse me if this question has been asked before. I just bought both the Xobx 360 versions of GH III and Rock Band for my son for xmas and wanted to know if I had just bought the GH III game would it have played along with the guitar that comes with Rock Band or no? I'm a little nervous now that I got it after hearing alot of people say they liked GH II better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can use the GHIII controller for RB, or vice versa but I'm not positive. Both games are great. GHIII is based more towards 1-2 players and online. RB, on the other hand, is more of an all-together group deal, where 4 people can play simultaneously and all have a blast. There's no doubt that if you or your son like one, you will surely like the other. I don't think he will be disappointed with either of them.

Yes your son will love both of those games, especially with friends over for RB 4 player thats a riot!

Yes, the GH3 controller does in fact work with Rock Band.

The GH3 controller works fine with Rock Band. The Rock Band guitar however does NOT work with Guitar Hero. The funny thing is that for PS3 because it uses a dongle, the GH3 guitar does NOT work for Rock Band. And since you can't buy individual guitars yet they are stuck without a bass guitar mwahahaha.

Anyway, yes you will be able to form your rock band with the GH3 guitar.

BTW don't worry about what you've heard, GH3 is great and better than GH2 IMO. The GH3 controller is far superior, being wireless is great, and the overall shape and feel of the guitar is just more comfortable. You can always pick up the stand alone version of GH2 and play it as well, you can use the GH3 controller to play it.
