Thumbs down

Are you serious??? This list is in NO WAY final. I can't believe you would even put that on the site. Any one who is to run a site about xbox should have noticed the q & a section where they state that there are many they intend to add AND that a lot of the other games like barbie horse adventure ran without hardly any issues using other emulations they had made for other games. The most popular single and live games were put on a list seperately and they started with the top and started working there way down the list. As they would finish one they would see some similarities in other games that werent on the list that would work fine. This site was one of the top xbox sites (or so i thought) but seeing how loosely you throw information, i will think twice before trusting any information here again.

So why is it not backward compatible?

Here is the full list, take a look and see what games you may have to sell or trade in:
The post is one negative one that seems to focus on telling people to start selling there games because there is little to no chance you will be playing them. Scythe3d is right on the money.

We all know that the lineup emulator games are not final, and that more & more games WILL be ported to the 360 ( inc after the release & available on xbox life ). Its not because they haven't gotten around to equipping those games in there emulators, that they won't emulate them. Saying BS like get ready to sell or trade them off is just plain wrong.

Also, something that people did notice, is the fact that a lot of those games are more recent ones ( or the less popular ones ). What seems to give the correct impression that for the more recent ones, developers have been programming more on the xbox1's core, making the need for large custom emulation needed. While the less popular ones on the list get set on the back-burner.

With all the news about launch line-up and reviews coming out, I can't believe news sites still find the time to concentrate on this crap. Sorry, but it has to be said. Backwards Compatiblity is a marketing thing - people think they need it, think they want it, and when they get it, they don't really use it. Why? Well, I don't know about you, but I'll be buying an Xbox 360 to play next-gen games on it. For god's sake, focus on the Xbox 360 games you CAN play, rather than the old Xbox games you can't

If money is so tight that you have to sell your Xbox, and plan on playing old Xbox games on your Xbox 360 instead, maybe gaming is not the hobby for you?

My Xbox has been long gone, donated to my younger cousin who is getting masses of enjoyment out of it.

Default Possible explanation

Being a software developer and having read a bit about emulation, I understand that anything that uses an API exclusively to display graphics is relatively easy to emulate. It gets tricky (but not impossible) when the program makes native calls to the hardware without using some intermediary. From the list of incompatible games, I'd say that for the most part, the games that are not yet compatible must make calls to the hardware that are difficult to set the emulator up to handle.

So, the original developers of the games are probably the ones to blame for their games not being emulated. Sit back, relax, and wait a while - I would be willing to bet that there will be quite a few of the other games that will be emulated later.

Default good faith?

I have a feeling that someone will come out with emulator software or some mod that will enable us to play almost all xbox games on the 360 so as far as trading or selling my old games I'll just sit on them plus I plan on keeping my xbox as well as using my 360..... I have confidance in the higher powers with tech and know how for this to happen....

If you guys look at the date of this thread, it's from last year before the 360 launched.
