Default Vertical=disc scratching?

My brother works at eb games and I finnaly got my 360. He says some people who kept it vertical scratched their discs. People who keep their beautiful, white, babies vertical, have you had any problems with that?

I havent had any problems and mines been vertical since I got it a few days after launch. Just dont move it while the disk is running inside the drive and it will be fine. I wonder what kind of idiot moves it anyways while the disk is running, whats the need?

The vertical way causing scrathes is a bunch of bull. I think it is a marketing gimmick. I bought a game and Besybuy asked if I wanted a warrenty for $3.99 for a year if it gets scrathed you can return it for a new game. I noticed a few other places asking about it also.

i kind of agree with chitownplayer sayin it might be a slick attempt to get you to buy warranties and stuff... also maybe they want you to buy vertical stands and some other junk they'll say helps prevent scratches. I've had mine verticle since launch night and everything has gone well as far as no scratches on game discs - hope i don't get any either cuz i don't want gamefly to not allow me to rent 360 games from them

I would normally agree but thats not the truth. I rent though gamefly and they sent me an e-mail warning me that they have had a lot of game returns with scratches on them from the 360 and if i return one with a big ring scratch from the xbox then i cant rent 360 games from them anymore.

I have had mine vertical since launch and never had a problem. But the problem is out there for some machines.

I personally think alot of the vertical 360 scratching comes from placing the unit too close to a source of vibration . . . .like, say, the !#%@$ subwoofer. I know 2 people who scratched their games. Moved the 360 away from the "too-big-for-your-room" speakers . . . no problems since

someone asked what's the point of turning? here's the answer, [people in a room playing on there 360 while it's vertical] hey guys, check this out [turns system while disc is spinning, light for the controllers adjust to the position of the system] **scratching sound**
