lol Mr. Hat.. ur a little late.

Well, I'll be the odd one out and say I wish achievments were never invented. The reason? Because so many people just play the games for achievments. And if your gamerscore is lower than theirs they just think their better than you.

I play games I want to play and IF i get those points then great, otherwise I dont care about them one way or another. Of all of the points I have gathered there are only two that I can remember trying to get.

Win a game of Bumpin Hockey without scoring a goal.
10 kills without dying on R6V.

yea right furiousthor yea right. You can honestly say that if their is an easy achievment you don't take 10 min. to go get it. Especially with ur gs of over 7,000

Yeah, that is exactly what i am saying. Most achievements can be gotten without trying. With most games you can get them just by putting in enough time.

Lets just look at the game I am playing right now, Shadowrun. There is an achievement for teleporting 100 times, I dont have to try to get that I will just get it. There is one for killing 100 memebers of a race. Those are easy I will get those with time. There is also achievements for playing 100 games with each race, those are easy but I probably will only get 1 or 2 of them because if I dont like the race I wont play with it. The only one I thinkm I would have to try to get and I might because it sounds fun but would be to let the other team get the artifact (flag) to within 10 feet of winning before stopping themn and taking it back to your base to win.

Oh and I did compete in the Xbox rewards challenge a few months ago so I did go after points to win that, but I am not sure I will do another one. So take those 1500 points off from that and that puts me around 5000 points for a year and a half of gaming.

Truthiness ..... Statement was contradictory if you ask me. "I Hate" them but I love playing to get them? It's the things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

Eilujin is just one of those dudes who lacks a life, and works his ass off to get a sh1tload of gamer points. All because he's trying to gain some kind of respect from people in the gaming world, when he lacks it in real life.

I love them. I dont normally play games more than once, but now I play each game 3 times on average. More bang for the buck.

Do you really want to know what is wrong with achievements. I will tell you, this just happened to me last night.

This person grabbed the artifact in Shadowrun and ran it clear back to the scoring zone and then stopped and started asking for a teammate to hit him in the back so he could bleed out while scoring to get an achievement. Noone did and an enemy came so he finally took his one step to score. In the next round he again did the same thing only this time the other team killed him and they ended up winning that round. In the next round he started right up again. So I told him I would do it then threw a grenade at his feet, killed him myself grabbed the artifact and scored the goal. Next round he began asking as soon as the round started so I just began shooting him until he was dead, then got rid of his body grabbed the artifact and went to score again. He was on my team. It was annoying and so I began killing him at the beginning of every round that he was on my team.

He didnt want to earn the achievement, he wanted someone to give it to him.
He eventually got kicked from the room once we voted through two rounds. Oh and while he was so worried about that one achievement, I scored 3 or 4 last night just playing the game.

Thor, you found one remarkable idiot chasing an idiotic achievement. I like the system as a whole, but like anything else, there are good achievements and bad ones.

I love the idea of achievements, really keeps me playing longer than i normally would, just gives you a reason to keep playing just to get the points.

Achievements are an awesome concept. I just wish I had some way to hit one button and drop out of the guide menu crap. It can seriously take you 10 seconds to back out of doing stuff in the guide menu and get back to your game.

Achievements are your proof for acomplishing a certain task. Take Gears of War, getting Seriously is a instant online respect, that proves pure dedication to a game and some skill as well. Its like a badge of honour, except in King Kong, those acheivements were like a booby prize for actually playing the game at all.

Personally I love achievements and would call myself now a achievement whore. I almost go to say that I wouldn't play a game unless it had acheivements, otherwise it feels pointless.

One ***** I will have is sometimes because not everyone is online (I am online, just speaking for those who aren't) its a bummer when certain acheivements require online play. Essentially you cant do or earn everything in the game because your not online.
