Exclamation Price-dive on 360 games?

All I have to say is I hoping its true, but in my mind it doesn’t add up. Why would a companies sell there games cheaper then the last generation, when their still loosing so much money every time they sell one console. Usually companies make their games cost more to make up for their losses for selling their consoles so cheap.

I personally think this is !!BS!!

The Xbox 360 rumour machine just doesn't let up, and the latest news is quite promising if it turns out to be accurate. One ray of hope just appeared on the horizon, in the form of Amazon listing Xbox 360 games at a much lower price than expected. Could that fat guy be dropping down a chimney near you early this year?

We were earlier lead to believe that games for the upcoming console would debut at UKP 44.99 this coming November. Despite this, Amazon seems to be either guessing like there's no tomorrow or they know something we don't. The online-shopping giant is listing games for as low as UKP 29.99.
So far the only games listed are Call of Duty 2 - £29.99, Kameo: Elements of Power - £29.99, Perfect Dark Zero - £32.99, Quake 4 - £29.99, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland - £29.99 and GUN - £29.99.
Release dates are also mentioned for some upcoming titles like Quake 4 and Tony Hawk's for October 28th, Call of Duty 2 for November 24th and GUN set for November 11th. Of course we cannot take these dates as concrete just yet. If the prices do hold up (give or take a few bucks), next-gen gaming may be a more accessible endeavour than previously expected.

Amazon.co.uk has listed several Xbox 360 games for pre order at a lower than expected price.

Recent reports have suggested that Xbox 360 games would retail for £44.99 when the console is launched in the UK later this year. However, Amazon.co.uk has begun listing Xbox 360 games for pre order with the prices at either £29.99 or £32.99. So far the only games listed are Call of Duty 2 - £29.99, Kameo: Elements of Power - £29.99, Perfect Dark Zero - £32.99, Quake 4 - £29.99, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland - £29.99 and GUN - £29.99.
Other information gathered from the listings are the release dates with Quake 4 and Tony Hawk's listed for release on October 28th, Call of Duty 2 listed for release on November 25th, GUN on November 11th, Perfect Dark Zero on December 2nd and Kameo on December 9th. The release dates are probably nothing more than guesses, but if the prices turn out to be true, next-gen gaming might not be as expensive as we all thought - although we still need to buy that LCD screen for lovely HD gaming.

I'm afraid it's true or it use to be.

Amazon.co.uk were selling 360 games for £29.99 a few months ago and taking pre-orders but have just checked now and they aren't taking any more orders and have removed the price.
Looked at another web site and they have they have a price tag of £39.99 which sounds about right.

When I preordered my 360 on Saturday the guy serving mentioned that 360 games were going to have a RRP of £40, and that they (Gamestation) would probably be selling them at around £38.99 in store. Not bad considering it wasn't to long ago that Xbox games were about the same price in all high street stores

sounds like its true then
Its good news for gamers in general, Sony can’t sell there games for $50, much less the estimated $59.99 price, they’ll need to lower their price on there games to keep up; at least I hope that’s going to be the case.

But something tells me not get my hopes up

if that’s going to be the official price, how will they make up the losses from the low console price, I know there’s plenty of other thing they can raise prices on, like their up coming peripherals, I just hope they won’t change their minds about the Xbox live cost, in increase it, just to make up the money they lose from their games and consoles, because the cost of the xbox live is the best plays to start.

Me personally 29.99, I’ll believe it when I see it

When you buy online you save around £10 which I always do plus you get your game a day before release day most of the time.

yeah I always get my games on-line, usually from Gameplay because as you say they are cheaper and you get them a day before the official launch day

However I will be picking up at least one launch title from Gamestation when I pick up my 360 at midnight, Thursday. Otherwise I may not have anything to play when I get home early hours Friday

That sounds about right. One shop doesn't know one thing while another does, but they all from the same chain of shops. That's why I take the info with a pinch of salt until everything is official. At the end of the day prices and dates are just speculative by the shops and suppliers/distributors.

Well good for y'all in the UK but here in the US I'm 99.9% sure we still have to pay $60 for games.

If I’m not mistaken isn’t games in the UK more expenses. I thought that people in the US pay less then the people living in Uk, and if that’s the case, then why would they let the people in the UK pay less for the same games when it cost more to sell them over seas.

Yes they are. Chances are whatever you can buy in America, it'll be more expensive in the UK. Normally they just convert $'s into £'s and because the £ is worth more than the $ we end up having to pay more.

CDs are even worse over here. I got a Beastie Boys album (To The 5 Borughs) while I was in San Francisco for $10. Most CDs in the store were that price, and most were new releases. Back in the UK the avarage price for a CD in high street stores is £12-13, sometimes even £16-17! That measures up to roughly $29 for a CD you can get in the states for $10!

$60 USD is only £33GBP

We tend to pay £40 to £45 GBP for games when a new console is releised which is $72.50 $81.60 USD respectivly!

So the us do get them a lot cheaper than us.
