Posts: 175 | i haven't heard this, but then again, i haven't really been paying attention to xbox 1 news. it may be possible, but i doubt that this is the case. as far as i know, each title is unique, and must be emulated on an individual basis. also, many later games for xbox 1 use dev techniques that are outside of the conventions of typical xbox 1 programming, thus posing issues for back compatibility. that's why we see so many basic games that are compatible, even though they may not be so popular.
all i want are my splinter cell games, PoP, and panzer dragoon. and dangit, fix ninja gaiden!! |

Posts: 2,001 | It's impossible. There's hundreds of games in the xbox library. Some games take longer to emulate than others. That's not gonna happen in 3 and a half months. |

along with the fact they cater for all markets & not just fans of war games | I'm not saying it's impossible for all xbox games to be bc on the 360, I'm sayin that it won't be done by June. If you havn't noticed, the 360 uses a different Processor (CPU) and video card (GPU) than the original xbox so the only way that xbox games can play on the 360 is through emulation and that process takes time. It's not a overnight process. If you want to know the whole story, Read the April issue of Game Informer (page 26). |

Posts: 175 | well, the ps3 doesn't have the same B/C issue as the 360 because it uses hardware to accomodate that feature. With the ps2, there was a specific chip incorporated into the system that allowed hardware back compat. on the flip side, the 360 uses a software solution, so it has to emulate an xbox 1. Quote: |

if you're looking for something appropriate for your kids, i think the nintendo revolution would be the perfect solution.
besides, i couldn't imagine my parents shelling out over 600-700 bucks (console, extra controller, 2 games, tax) to buy me a new toy when i was younger. |

Posts: 1,227 | Why do you guys complain about backwards compatibility, after I got my first xbox 360 game I never touched Halo 2 or any other original xbox games. After playing a 360 game its so depressing playing a game from last gen. For the ppl with ps2 do any of you still play ps1 games on it. I take it the answer is no, MS should scrape the back compatibility and spend those resources on making our 360 gaming experience better. If you still want to play your Halo 2 well than play it on you original xbox because that is where it was meant to be played. My 360 heats up more while playing Halo 2 than playing GRAW. Which shows the hardcore emulation that is happening. The reason sony offers it is because all there games are programed the same way and a simple hardware emulator can be put on the ps3 to emulate the games plus its also another bullet point they can use agiainst MS.

Posts: 1,227 | Don't you still have your original xbox to play the older games on, doesnt it seem like a waste of resourses trying to get a state of the art gaming machine to play last generation games. This extra money can be spent in other areas of the 360 to improve it. And for the heat my 360 is about 6 degrees celcius warmer playing Halo 2 than playing a light campaign level in GRAW. Its like trying to run a ps2 game on an xbox its the same hurdle they face trying to run an xbox game on a xbox 360.
