Default Xbox360 router

I know for the xbox playng on xbox live, you need a certian router, well my friend cant play XBL because he doesnt have the right kind of router, so do you think he will be able to play live on the 360, or will it be the same?

If your friend has been having problems connecting to live, then I would think that they are going to have the same problems with the 360.

I have an MS router. Works pretty good (obviously!).

I'd recommend that he used the network troubleshooter on the Xbox console. If you can't determine the problum, call 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

The problum is most likely your firewall, NAT, and port forwarding settings. At this point you really should learn more about your own router. I couldn't guide you through it, without knowing certain details.

If they can't help you at 1-800-4MY-XBOX then contact the manufacturer of the router or check if they have a website online. Should have troubleshooting instructions there.

Hope that all helps...

I know routers are a pain by the way. I spent over 3 weeks trying to get a Red Alert 2 game going with a friend. Just think, if it weren't for crackers and those who make viruses we wouldn't have to worry about all this protection.

did he reset his modem before he plugged up his xbox. if not he needs to because for some reason you have to have a "fresh" connection.

Mine always worked fine... I never had to reset it. But you should reset them weekly anyways just so it doesn't get too congested.

The 360 wireless router may sort out these problems if not may I suggest he use a wired connection.
