Do you suck at Gears?

Okay, I have a confession - I suck at Gears of War multiplayer. I really do.

I'd like to consider myself a pretty competent gamer, and fairly decent at shooters, but I can't deny I get my ass handed to me in diced up little shitted on pieces more often than not while playing Gears online. The campaign really isn't all that hard for me, I can reel off headshots without breaking a sweat there, but the second I get online, I'm being endlessly chainsawed and shotgunned to pieces.

I'm never one to make excuses, and I'm not about to say Gears isn't a finely made game, but... do you think maybe it's not just me? I mean, maybe there is something about Gears, beyond just the genuine difficulty of, that makes it difficult to be really good at it?

I don't want to start taking shots at things I don't like... so I won't, I'll let you guys do it. Are there any things you hate about Gears multiplayer? Things you feel should be improved? Or... maybe you just suck, like me. Have at it.

You have to have Active Reloads!!!!! Also, use melee to your advantage- one shot with the shotty then a melee will take em down.

I'm in the same boat McFearson. I consider myself a good GRAW online player although far from being great. However, I just can't get GoW down for multiple reasons. It's not a FPS, hence the 3rd person view, and although I consider myself decent, I cannot play with consistency. Even though I haven't played in eons, one day I do great and the other I cannot kill an enemy. Give me a FPS cam and it's a different ballgame.

The only thing I'm good at in MP is hiding behind a barrier then popping up and chainsawing fools. Snipers kill me a lot.

First time on a 360 I played gears, and I came out on top of my team. I could call it luck, but it all depends on what server your on. Some are full of noobs, some are full of freakin awesome gamers!!

I find that u have to completely through everything u learned from the campaign out the window.Online is a completely different thing.Now your playing with actually people who think and use strategy.The only advice to give is to practice and to stay in teams.If u don't stay in teams then your gonna get in a two on one situation 9 times out of 10, and your going to lose.

True, but in most FPS u can use the same strategy with different tweaks based on the enviroment and stuff where as in gears u have to develop a whole new strategy because its a completely different experience, with the cover system and all.I think that's why alot of people don't like gears online because there not use to that type of online play.

Well it depends for me, i'm ok, i can be the last man standing and still win. It's not that hard if you use your cunning. But if I'm in a lobby with nerdcore GOW players, I usually get pownd with anything.

I think this is entirely true, but more from the standpoint of who is on your team. I think one of the major differences in Gears is how reliant you are on your teammates. If you look at Halo or even GRAW, one very skilled person can completely dominate a game, not so much in Gears. And furthermore, if you're team isn't good, and working together, you aren't going to have success, even if you are individually skilled.

At first I just thought I was inconsistent. Because, at times, I have been able to hold my own in some matches. And granted, I don't play that, so maybe that's it also... but then perhaps the game is inconsistent.

Has anyone cleared insane mode? I cannot beat the damn thing for ****! Even playing with a friend on co-op is hard.

If memory serves, my friend and I got through the first two levels on insane, and called it quits. Its just too much work for very little reward.
