Default Noob on this forum!

Sorry but i'm a big newbie. I hope to purchase an xbox 360 premium package this Friday. However I have been having almost second thoughts because of the many stories of it being defective. I need some help deciding this. Maybe if people can give me an opininion from their experience. Also some statistics would be nice if you could give me some percentages. Thanks.

There are no definitive numbers provided for failure rates. Only a few "poll's" have been conducted but with MS extending their warranty 3 years even if it does break down it is easily replaceable. The newer machines are less prone to be defective than say my launch console. I think you shouldn't worry too much about it and scoop one up.

I wouldn't worry. Just like when a brand new car model is introduced, the early adopters sometimes get burned, and the subsequent model years get it right. An 360 you buy new should be good, but if there is a problem, you're protected by a 3 year warranty. Think about it...how many electronic goodies have you bought in your life that had a parts, labor and shipping warranty beyond 90 days? Very few I'm sure.

MICROSOFT HAS admitted that all the 11.6 million faulty Xbox 360s sold in the last 19 months are faulty.

In a statement, Volish spinsters said that all of the consoles suffer from a design flaw which could cause the machine to fail.

However, the outfit said that while it is extending the warranty coverage from one to three years to compensate consumers, it had no plans to recall or exchange the boxes.

Volish gaming supremo Robbie Bach refused to say what the problem is, but said that units currently in stock will be upgraded.

Bionic's source based this admission via a Microsoft press conference on the 5th of July. Have you listened to the Press Conference Shane? I have and at no point did MS state 11.6 units are defective. Conversely, Robbie Bach reiterated the fact that MS does not discuss or release return rates. The 11.6 was a figure used to estimate cost of the extended warranty. If you listen to the press conference you will understand MS based the 1 billion hit from the 11.6 statistic.
