Resident Evil 5 Racist?

A village filled with Black inhuman savages being shot at and killed by some white guy with a gun. Racist? I know their zombies but what do you think? Back in the day, and i dont approve of this at all, but black people were called savages too. Think they are pushing it with this game?

It seems it's fine for white people to kill white people but as soon as the target is black, people go ape-****...and we call this a civilised society?

Scott beat me to it, but seriously, the game is set in Africa. What did you expect? Koreans? If we were talking about the Rodney King game, your point would be valid, but there's no racism here!

The only racist game I can think of would be Double Dribble on the NES circa 1987. Every time you would pass the ball to a black player he would turn white.

I think she doesn't understand that this is the 5th game in the series and a new, fresh locale was needed. Maybe it should have been set in Antarctica and been filled with zombie penguins.

I think I'll start whining about there being no white people in Def Jam Icon. On second thought, I'll worry about something that matters, like this woman should do.

Just kidding. It's sad that people pay any attention to race at all. You go to a different region of the world, you're gonna have a different type of people. It really doesn't matter either way though, as no one group of people is any more or less special than anybody else.

I think its more the fact that like they say in link its a white man in 'uniform' and of 'high authority'
Having a set up where a white man is killing black zombies that we are seeing as a lower life form and worthy of killing is going to spark attention(i know there zombies and people are getting very over-sensitive about this)
but its a fact that 1st world white europeans were thought that africans were a lower life form back in the day, and they were worthy of death or slavery.
So it is slightly touchy, its not like were going to see a Nazi officer game where we kill jewish zombies in poland, people should just be more aware of the media games can get, and be more carefull in the way they portray it. Give the main character some african companians that are helping him kill the zombie horde in there homeland or get rid of the bloody army unifrom at least and there would be little complaints,
but yes people are getting far to sensitive about this, but i can see why in some ways.

I don't think blacks are depicted any different in video games than any other media, and I don't think we deserve preferential treatment, either. Why does a game need a lead character that is black? And here's something to chew on: how many black video game development houses are there? I don't think anyone should be going out of their way to give their character a darker hue to pacify anyone unless we all believe that there really is something different that sets people apart...
