graphics, story, or game play?

What do u really car about in the next generation?

I’m just quires, what do u guys really car about in the next generation games, graphics games coming soon, story, or game play. Choose and put it in order from most to least important.

Choose in order what is most important to u:
a. Graphics: It needs to be good looking top of the line, high end graphics

b. Story: it needs to get me in the game, feeling like I’m in a epic story and where I feel like I can’t put the controller down, unless I haft to.

c. Game play: the game must be easy to play, and just fun, with the perfect interface with controlling your character of characters.

What I chose:
1. Graphics: I can’t stand playing through a whole game and just being disappointed with the visuals every time my eyes are open.

2. Game play: the game must be fun and feel like the controls were designed for gamers in mind. it Should never be frustrated to use the controls, in other words with the game engine. If I die it must be my mistake, and not the software.

3. Story: I still think the story in the game is important, but when graphics and bad controls get in the way, the story is the last thing I’m thinking about.

Story for me is least important too.

So I would have to say:

- Gameplay
- Graphics (a close 2nd) - yes I like my eye candy

- Story (that said, if you are playing a game like Final Fantasy...

)

I say this, as I am more of a multiplayer gamer so the storyline doesnt really bother me, although for a game like Halo 3 I want a killer Story and awesome gameplay, visuals are just an added bonus

Hummm... In my case, I guess the first thing I care about have to be the graphics, cause that's really the first aspect of next-gen that people see (thanks to screenshots and all)...
Then, I'd say Story in second cause when I play games, I really want to be immersed in it; I gotta live it !
And last, Gameplay cause I don't think that we'll really see wild progress in that domain since we play the same types of games and I think gameplay is just fine the way it is today...

So :

- Story
- Gameplay

The first thing that hits you about a game is the graphics. They are the first thing you see. Then the gameplay. If it plays well, then great - those graphics will be well appreciated on the journey. Then, if there is one, story. I personally couldn't care less about stories in games - I just play them they way I want to play, and if that involves a story, then fine. Sometimes (like MGS2 for example) story can get in the way of a good game.

The game has to ave hgood Graphics to pull me in 2nd amazing gameplay and 3rd story, as long as game good graphics and gameplay the story could suck and i would still play it.

Since I am beautiful (my mom told me), I like things that are beautiful too, so graphics take precedence first and foremost. Second, I read a lot, and nothing irritates me more than to have read a bad book- same goes for games. Gameplay is a close second to story, though. Bad gameplay can ruin a good game, but it does not happen enough to get above story, IMO.

Quite difficult to put these in order as they are all important aspects of a game and all are needed to produce a quality game. Here's my order

Gameplay
Graphics
Story

I think the gameplay is the most important out of the three. No matter how pretty a game is if it has crap enemy AI, poor frame rate issues, dull & repetative gameplay, poor controls, poor and pointless puzzless, terrible collision detection, bad camera positioning/angles etc then it doesn't matter how fantastic the game looks you won't play it for more than a few minutes before returning it to the shop you bought it from.

As I said though all are important to making a great game.

A agree I feel the same way that’s why game play and graphics are pretty much dead even but I had to put something for fist plays.

The game has to look good but without good controls, and smooth game play I’m not wasting my time. The story is the least important as long as it has good game play and graphics, but story is not far behind game play

Although I put graphics first, I have to say that Gameplay is a really close second. I only put graphics first because that's what you see first and that's what draws you in. Gameplay quickly becomes the really important thing as you get over the graphics and play the game for what it is. Story, no story, I'm not too fussed. Stories over-complicate most games anyway!

This is really quite tough, i think there all important and help to make a game great. I think Story can have just as much impact on the success of the game. Gameplay is obviously crucial and as Nomino said graphics are what u see first and often draw people into playing the game.

But if i have to be fussy i would say:

Story

Gameplay (simple if you have no gameplay then the games pointles for me)

Story (again no proper story the games pointles for me)

Graphics (yes it is good to have great graphics but if it has none of the above then i find it pointles But having good are great graphics is great when the above is met. I still play old retro games on older consoles the graphics look pants but the gameplay Story shine through. To many companys are going for look and graphics over full game substance)
