Default Newbie Connection Problem

I bought my 360 a week ago. I recently purchased a Logitech Play Link to connect my system to Live. After connecting everything correctly I try the connection test and the system failed the ISP test.

This morning I tried a direct connection with my Westell Wirespeed 2100 DSL Modem. I used the connectivity wizard off the Xbox site to make sure I connected everything properly. Once again when I tried to test, the system failed the ISP test.

I have tried everything bit of information off the Xbox site.
Could there be something wrong with my DSL modem? Any suggestions?

ISP = Internet Service Provider (e.g AOL, Verizon) I would contact them.

It is hard to say without knowing much about your modem or what ISP you have. But here are a couple of general things you can try...

First thing I would do is disable any firewall software you might have running. This will at least give you somewhere to start. If it does work after that you know it is somewhere in the firewall software. I know I have had to unblock new IP addresses when I add a new device.

Next, you can check your modem/router settings. Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser to bring them up. If you have an option to update the firmware I would do that as well.

Last you can try to renew your IPs. I have had this work in the past as well. But it is usually for an outside connection problem rather then a network one. Go START->RUN and type IPCONFIG /RELEASE. When it is done doing its thing go START->RUN and type IPCONFIG /RENEW.

Let us know if you get any more info or get it working. Good luck~

Also connect it all up and do this:

Quote:
Start>Run>cmd>ping 127.0.0.1
this is a loopback address and make sure that you are able to recieve packets and send i think.
