Exclamation Xbox 360 With No Hd-dvd: Worth It?

HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD ABOUT THIS:

http://www.ggmania.com/?smsid=19603.

G4TV ALSO SAID THAT THIS COULD CREATE EXTREMEMLY LONG LOAD TIMES BETWEEN DICS. THIS IS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A SONY GUY UNTIL NOW. I HAVE MY 360 PRE-ORDERED AND EVERYTHING. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS BAD NEWS!

Usually there isn't long load times between disc i.e. you finish dics one and it tells you to insert disc 2 so you do and starts playing again.

The point about porting Windows games is stupid I am glad that is difficult to port games becuase a straight port is no good we want oirignal games.

Besides Soyn has long load times on the both the PSP and PS2 and will be the same with PS3 but Microsoft has always had short load times just look at the Xbox. GTA Vice City on PS2 takes a couple of minuetes to load on Xbox about 10 seconds, big difference

PS no Caps Locks it makes you look like you are shouting

Maybe so, but the quote about the multiple disc problem wasn't from G4TV.

yes but you must understand Sony is banking on a new format......i really doubt blu ray will be the future i mean look how long we had VHS.....there is no way we will see another change so soon. G4TV is trying to hype a different format and promote ps3 at the same time they are very biased. But yes if by some miracle we get a new format like bluray to sweep the already economicly stretched world then yes ps3 may be fast in the fact you will have to get off your *** to put a new disc in

yeah true, there will be new discs of either HD-DVD or Blu Ray coming out though, dont mistake that guys. I know DVD is still relatively new. But you gotta look at it from the HD era. Everyones now getting HD TV's and the fact is current DVD's ARE NOT in HD. They are just progressive scan and better than VHS. But they are by no means HD. And well with so many HD TV's starting to enter homes people want to see their moneys worth in their movies. So there will be a market for those new HD discs whichever format wins. Which btw Blu Ray actually has more backing now and has been picking up steam. Personally I'd rather then just jump to a large capacity disc such as blu ray. And not because its sony but because its a solution that would last YEARS into the future. HD-DVD is larger but only to a point. They would have ways of filling those up so fast that then in just a few years we would already need another larger capicity disc. I dont really see blu-ray or HD DVD being important as far as gaming goes. Because multiple discs on a game isn't a problem really. But for movies it would be a must, larger the disc is the less transferring and compression a film goes through and the better the picture.

ok I'm way breaking into a tangent lol but I'd say if the 360 isn't going to have games on HD-DVD it doesn't really need it. Because I dont see that many people buying any of the new larger discs for quite awhile. It'll do like DVD and start out small for a few years then suddenly it'll explode. but not until even more HDTV's are in households, which still isn't quite there, but getting closer with the way prices are constantly dropping.

okay...I've mentioned this before in a previous thread and I'm still holding out hope that MS will consider this. VMD(versitile multilayer disk). Check it out at...http://www.dvd-intelligence.com/main...3_wmd_demo.htm. I think that this is the solution for MS and we the consumers as well, considering the current retail climate. I mean introducing a new form of media so early in the current DVD lifespan is going to render alot of the products in circulation today obsolete tomorrow. It is too soon and I think it is a way for certain companies(sony) to manipulate the market, especially when we still have some much life left in the current medium. If MS went with VMD they would win on all fronts...more storage space(up to 100gb!)...it stores and plays HD media!....and it's cheaper! Plus the consumers win as well because your current dvd player can still play the disk, it may not be HD but at least you won't be forced into buying a new disk player, unless you want to, and when you do it will be less expensive because it uses the current DVD standard only enhances it so the manufactures will still be able to use their current manufacturing plants to make them saving them money which in turn saves you and me money. I hope MS wisens up to this..it just makes sense..you keep your 12x dvd drive that will blow away any blue ray 1x as far as streaming media and load times go, it's not that expensive to upgrade the current dvd drive and you get the HD and added storage capacities!

I remember reading that other post you made, and yeah that would be a great and easy alternative for them and many others. But you know companies they LOVE the chance to have a new media which means they can make even more new devices to make us buy and make us have to REBUY all our movies LOL

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143373

also just came across this about how HD-DVD has now been pushed back to 2006
