i used my debit card. as long as it has a credit number (even though it's a debit card) you can use it.

That or you can go to Walmart (et al.) and buy a 12 year subscription and just type in their code- that way you do not have your credit (or debit) card number on your harddrive. Wish I would have done that.

no grindstone you still have to use card if u do that. i had to when i put my 2 month card in. it is incase you download stuff.

i forgot the article but i read that for the new xbox live, if you sign up when you get the console, that you dont need a credit card unless you try to buy something from the market and then it asks for the info

I doubt that would happen. I'd rather use a credit card than pay for gas.

in One of my xbox mags it had a check list of which account services ( silver and gold) would provide and under the credit card required colum it was unchecked but thats just what i saw if you get something else let me know.

I was hopeful that you could simply put money down at a store and then have an amount stored on your account for later use. I might not have access to a credit card or debit card.
