But think about this. if the console is going to be cheap, then people may buy the PS3 because they think the more expensive the product the better the product. So every one buys the PS3, and the xox360 gets left behind because most of the developers switch to the console that is selling the best, and will be Sony.

Xbox has already made itself a good name, and remember what sales of Xbox were like at launch because of the price. If it's reasonably priced and has solid games then people will buy it. There's no real reason to hold out for the PS3 anyway.

wasn't the xbox more expensive in europe when it first came out? if so, then same scenario dude, don't worry about it. $299 is what i bet. and i'm sticking to it.

But don't forget this; people say the 360 in action at E3. The PS3 was all pre-rendered. Plus, the 360 has a large head-start, by at least half a year. Also, there are still a lot of unknowns about the PS3, but the 360 is almost completely exposed. The price is unknown, and the differences in packages are unknown on the 360.

Which one looks more appealing... the PS3 or the 360...

when i got my xbox (second day it came out) it was about $500 for the box 3 games and 2 controllers, now is see the same deal for 200-300 at other places lol

Yeah I hope your right, but this sounds like something a big company like MS would do to stay in the game

lol i bet sony is sayin that it will be expensive right now, but its just to make the 360 go higher since its launchin before the ps3. so after the 360 comes out, sony just might lower the price of the ps3 than wat they said. lol it might be conusing wat i said, but u people that get wat i say, tell me if my opinion is rong

I get what you are saying, but I doubt Sony will release the PS3 at a cheap price.

I think M$ should stay on track with the current expected price ($299). I mean how well did the Game Cube sales increase because they were the lowest price console. I mean i can buy a GC by me for only £79, thats almost half the price of a PS2 or xbox and is cheaper than buying 2 xbox games

lol so alot of ppl would buy them 4 the lower price tag. I no even if i wanted a PS3 i wouldnt be paying more than £400 4 one (plus i wouldnt be able to get that money). I mean if u asked ur parents or ur child asked u for a £400 console for christmas, what would u say?

My mum and dad wouldn't buy me a £400 console, no way. And if I had kids, I wouldn't buy them one either. I'd wait for a price drop at least, or just go for something cheaper.

Nah in my opinion I think it will stick the same. Even though prodruction costs will certainly be a strong factor.

I dont think the price will change Sony knows it and Microsoft knows that $299 is the 'sweet-spot' to when it comes to console sales. I think sony is trying to force microsoft's hand and get them to raise their price so that their price won't look all that exorbitant. Kutaragi know's that a significant factor in ps2's success was the large teen fan base/young adult 18-30 (not so sure of the range), and to price himself out of that market niche would be suicide. But he has no choice, he's selling an all -in -one entertainment center (+ cooking grill lol) that just so happens can play games, as he said him-self playstation 3 is not a gaming machine but a supercomputer or something to that effect. In my opinion the PS3 is going to sell not the way a games machine would sell but more like the common enchanced household appliance.
