Xbox 360 live connection

Ok, I'm trying to get info for my nephew who has an Xbox 360 and is trying to get connected to Xbox Live. He curently has a brand new computer (is not even a week old yet) which is running Windows Vista and DSL. He purchased a Linksys router and is unable to get connected to the internet! He calls me and asks me to take a look at it and figure it out! I need some advice and/or guidence on this guys! Any idea what the problem might be? He does not have a wireless router and there is only one computer in the house! If you can email me, that would be great! I can't get caught on here during work hours! lol Thanks!!!!!

But as some general thoughts here goes. If there is no wireless then you will have to use an ethernet cable from the router into the back of the 360. Assuming you guys have gotten that far and are still unable to get connected my first guess is it is a firewall issue. Try turning off any firewall software and see how that goes. If it works after then then you know it is a firewall problem and it is just a matter of changing the settings in the firewall to allow the 360 access to the network. Another thing you can try is to cycle the modem and router. Unplug them for 30 seconds and then plug them back in. Sometimes this helps with getting new items on a network to recognize.
